"We anticipate that the 2021 Atlantic basin hurricane season will have above-normal activity."

Colorado State University (CSU) released its first formal forecast for the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season on Thursday, 8 April. The CSU seasonal forecast [PDF] for named storms in 2021 is a forecast about 40% above average for the period 1980-2010.

Keep in mind that forecasting cyclonic systems is a tricky exercise and last season saw nearly double the April forecast.
