Arriving at stores in time for the holiday season, the reimagined Daiwa Saltist LW reel series sports a fresh new look and innovative technological improvements for enhanced performance.

Long the standard when it comes to affordable levelwind trolling reels that can withstand a saltwater beating, tame Great Lakes trout and salmon or out-muscle a musky, the revamped series lives up to its reputation as extremely dependable while boosting efficiency and an upgraded drag system, all bundled in a crisp charcoal over blue lightweight configuration.

Specifically designed for the big water action in the Great Lakes region and marine applications, Daiwa Saltist LW reels offer the perfect combination of line capacity, durability and performance for fishing braid or mono. A rigid aluminum frame and side plate keeps everything in precise alignment while Daiwa Digigear engineering ensures a perfect mesh between the ultra-tough drive gear and pinion gears for optimized speed, power and durability. Simply turn the comfortably large handle and you'll instantly feel everything come together in the smooth and quiet rotation.

"Our updated Saltist LW series of levelwind reels is built to take on the biggest, most determined fish in your waters," says Daiwa's Senior Marketing Manager, Marc Mills. "Although lightweight for their size, their strong aluminum frame serves as the solid base required to tighten down on lunkers gone wild. They also now feature Daiwa's Automatic Tournament Drag (ATD). This system employs an improved drag grease with low viscosity at rest that becomes more viscous the instant the spool begins to turn. The end result is a super-smooth drag with low initial inertia and the ability to slow or redirect a big fish when you need to prove that you're the boss."

Ideal for trolling in open water throughout the Great Lakes Region or in bay, sound and ocean waters, the Saltist LW series offers no-nonsense levelwind performance, easy operation, plus the power and smooth drag necessary to stop any fish in its tracks. "Charter captains also love them because inexperienced clients never have to fuss with thumbing the line evenly across the spool," adds Mills. "That can be a real plus on bumpy days when the fish are hitting fast and furious."

Saltist LW reels come in sizes W20 to W50. All feature 5 ball bearings (2CRBB+2BB+2RB) for smooth performance and a 6.1:1 or 6.4:1 gear ratio depending on the model. Line per handle turn retrieve rate is 35 or 47.2 inches per rotation while reel weights range from 18.5 to 24 ounces. The series also accommodates impressive line capacities ranging from 12/420 to 40/310 for mono and from 40/260 to 50/630 for Daiwa J-Braid. Max drag runs from 15.4 pounds for size 20 and 30 reels to 20-pounds for size 40 and 50 models. MSRP on all sizes is $199.99.

Now available, The Saltist LW reels are a great way to update or reinforce your trolling arsenal. They'll also make terrific holiday gifts for serious fishing friends and family.

Daiwa Saltist LW features:

  • Aluminum Frame and Side-Plate
  • Light Weight Aluminum Spool
