Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding introduces the Hood 46 LM, the newest vessel in the Hood Series and a thoughtful expansion of the models that have become a hallmark of Lyman-Morse in recent years.
Building on the success of earlier vessels, the Hood 46 LM brings increased capability, contemporary construction, and a refined sense of purpose to a familiar and well-respected profile.
There is something immediately compelling about the Hood 46 LM. It feels familiar yet forward-looking, a yacht that respects classic proportions while confidently stepping into modern performance and construction. This is a yacht designed not just to be admired, but to be used and enjoyed.
The profile is clean and intentional. A curved windshield and long, continuous cabin portlights create a sleek visual flow, while a subtle drop in sheer is balanced by added flare forward. The result is a silhouette that feels low, purposeful, and unmistakably contemporary. Beneath the surface, a cold-molded wood composite hull paired with an infused carbon fiber superstructure delivers an exceptional balance of strength, ride quality, and reduced weight, supporting a projected top speed of 42 knots.
The hull form is engineered for confidence across the speed range. A fine entry and gracefully curved forefoot transition to a constant deadrise, creating a hull that moves softly through chop and runs efficiently at speed. A moderate 20-degree deadrise contributes to stable, predictable handling and a sense of control in changing conditions.
Above the waterline, the topsides strike a thoughtful balance between strength and elegance. A steeply raked stem with forward flare flows into graceful tumblehome and a curved transom, visual signatures of the Hood Series. Practical details are seamlessly integrated, including a starboard boarding door for easy dock access and a port transom door that opens to a generous swim platform with a tender-launching system designed for effortless shore excursions.
The cockpit is welcoming and social, arranged with an aft-facing settee, beverage cabinet, and an L-shaped lounge with pedestal table. A retractable awning provides full shade when desired, whether at anchor or under way. Inside, the pilothouse is bright and inviting, with natural light pouring through the single-piece windshield, power windows, and full sunroof.
By refining the production process, Lyman-Morse delivers shorter build times than a full custom project while maintaining complete flexibility for owner customization. Each vessel reflects its owner's vision, realized through the craftsmanship and technical excellence that define every Lyman-Morse vessel.
Inside, the Hood 46 LM reveals a contemporary classic single-stateroom interior by the renowned design firm Rhoades Young, who have designed interiors for iconic yachts from builders such as Royal Huisman and Nautor's Swan. Clean lines, warm tones, and a careful blend of white oak, American walnut, and upholstered finishes create an inviting space that feels both modern and inviting. Every detail is considered, from the tactile beauty of the materials, to the seamless integration of storage, lighting, and technology.
The Hood 46 LM is more than a new model. It's a continuation of a shared vision between designer, builder, and owner. It embodies the innovation, performance, and craftsmanship that defines Lyman-Morse, reimagined for those who demand individuality without compromise.
