Nine Mirror dinghies gathered on 12th June at Cam S.C. for the Open Meeting for the American Cup. The meeting being part of the East Anglian Travellers circuit. Conditions were good with a light north-westerly breeze which was occasionally enhanced by heavy showers, giving a largely reaching course on the river.

The first race established the patten for the meeting. Four boats were in hot contention for the lead. The race was won by Edward Lachlan-Cope from the home club crewed by brother Tim, second was Alan Winter and third Dale Winter with Ray Smith from Dabchicks S.C. fourth.

The second race saw the order changed with Ray Smith first, Ed second, Dale third and Alan fourth.

For the third race there was a major wind shift giving a long beat to the first mark. Dale led throughout chased home by Ray Smith, Ed Lachlan-Cope and Simon Osborne.

This result gave Ray Smith the victory on countback since he had beaten Edward in the last race.

2nd 70033 Edward and Tim Lachlan-Cope Cam S.C.
