At a press conference organised by 'Vela Garda Trentino' together with the sailing clubs involved there was the official presentation of the '2nd World Youth Sailing Week' an event dedicated to youth sailing and taking place in the Garda Trentino region during the week of Easter. The event comprises a series of regattas organised in the Alto Garda region.
These regattas are for the Skiff 29'er organised at 'Circolo Vela Arco, the Windsurf board Techno 293 at the 'Circolo Surf Torbole', the Laser 4.7 and Radial at the Fraglia Vela Malcesine and the small but numerous Optimist at the 'Fraglia Vela Riva.
The Optimist regatta is supported by the 'Lega Navale Italiana' who are helping to cope with the demands of over a thousand participants from 36 different nations.
In the Techno class there are also participants from additional nations not represented in the optimist fleet such as Hong Kong. A festival atmosphere which for at least the first few days will be characterised by sunshine after the dismal weather of last year's event.

2nd World Youth Sailing Week/Laser Youth Easter Meeting & Techno 293 Garda Trophy (16–19 April)
We are eagerly waiting for the start of the regattas which require the most physical effort on the part of the athletes. The Windsurfing at the Circolo Surf Torbole and the Laser at the Fraglia Vela Malcesine involve both male and female athletes who are at the moment participating in the youth versions of their class but are on the road to participation in the full Olympic classes which are RSX windsurfing and the Laser Class with its male and female versions. The number of overseas competitors involved in these two regattas is very high.
