The car park filled rapidly and by 09am the boat park was crammed with Oppies. Boys and girls rigged their boats ready for the day ahead. The briefing commenced at 10am and immediately after the boats were launched. With just over 40 entries, the start line spanned the width of the lake.

The first start was good, with only one general recall all day. So the racing kicked off! The first race saw David Calder (Burghfield) master the tricky light winds to narrowly beat George Eames Matthews (Banbury) by half a boat length with Barty Gray (Bowmoor) 3rd.

Race 2 proved even more challenging as the shifty wind fooled many: 1st Barty Gray, 2nd Tom Mitchell (Lymington), 3rd David Calder.

After a short break for a delicious lunch and a change of course, racing resumed with race 3 won by David Calder. Barty Gray was 2nd followed closely by George Eames Matthews in 3rd.

With one race left, all was to play for. With David 1st, Barty 2nd and George 3rd it came down to the last race to decide the final positions. The wind dropped slightly, and George and Tom forged a commanding 1,2 lead with Barty finishing 3rd.

A special mention has to be made to Burghfield SC who fielded 15 boats across the two fleets.
