This coming weekend the Byte class descend on Haversham Sailing Club for their Inland Championship. Entries are already higher than they have been for many years and some good racing is expected at this friendly club.

The class is now truly multi-generational and gender offering a truly level playing field for lighter sailors of both sexes and all ages. In the last year there have been many new boats built and a strong new contingent of younger try-anything sailors who will attempt to challenge the more experienced members of the class.

Last year's Inland Championship winner Louis Saunders cannot be present but there will be a three boat team from Combs Sailing club including veteran Rick Whitehouse aiming for his sixth Inlands win! Out there to thwart his ambitions is Ryan Bush who is still very much in the junior category but took individual races last year and won his home 'GP' at Bristol Corinthian.

Competition for the Ladies Trophy should be another fearsome battle, simply because there are so many great lady sailors out there in boats suitable for them.

If any Byte sailors are still not entered drag out your boat and get there. Haversham is one of the most central clubs in the country and very easy to reach with free camping and great facilities.

Remember as well that the National Championships is over the weekend July 9th at Castle Cove. Pre entries are already filling up and the numbers are limited so if you have not entered then get a move on or risk disappointment.
