Superyachts, while owned by a minority, contribute enormously to the industry. So it is important for our political leaders to be involved in future developments.

Superyacht Australia is ensuring all the key issues facing the industry will be on the table at the Australian Superyacht, Export and Commercial Marine Conference (ASMEX) being held 21-23 May at the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove. Key government regulators from Australian Border Force, Customs visa section, Biosecurity, Marine Safety Queensland, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and others will be on a panel ready to respond to industry questions.

The commercial sector of our industry is also important and developments are welcomed. The AusShips Group has taken a massive step, expanding to occupy premises double the size of their original site at Rivergate Marina and Shipyard. Respected as the one-stop shop for commercial vessels and high-level technical and manufacturing capabilities for the superyacht sector, the AusShips Group (ASG) has been an integral part of the Rivergate offering since 2014.

Powerboats dominate the new releases this week and the Bavaria E34, smaller sibling to last year's 'European Power Boat of the Year', the Bavaria E40, has just launched and will make her Australian Debut at the 30th Anniversary of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Like the E40, this 34' is a single shaft, full displacement cruiser and she is available in either Sedan or Flybridge guises. You'll be amazed by how much space Bavaria have fashioned into a 10m hull. Bavaria Yachts are distributed by Ensign Ship Brokers in Australia.

Clipper Motor Yachts have announce the all-new up-dated Patrizio Facheris designs for both their Hudson Bay 640 and 640S Motor Yachts. This Patrizio Facheris designed yacht delivers on both style and practicality in a new, clean and stunning design that resembles a six star resort.

New product releases in this week's newsletters include the new Profurl NDE2 models that have been designed to give enhanced comfort, performance and reliability, with a sleek & modern look. The range will cover an extensive variety of boat sizes from 9 to + 22m: 4 models – for forestays diameter from 10 to 22mm. For the first time, technology and affordability are brought to medium size boats.

Raymarine has announced the LightHouse version 3.4, the latest free update to Raymarine's LightHouse 3 OS software system. Laden with upgrades and enhancements, LightHouse version 3.4 brings-to-your-helm functions and digital services previously reserved for mobile phones and your living room.

Upcoming events include the Sydney Trailer Boat Show that makes its much-anticipated return to Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on 7 and 8 April 2018 between 10am and 5pm, featuring more than 30 exhibitors with over 250 boats on display at the free-to-enter event.
