Blackwater Sailing Club Open Day Success

Blackwater Sailing Club held its annual Open Day recently and the crowds poured in on a glorious sunny day to try their hand at sailing and find out what the club has to offer; Maldon's local MP John Whittingdale came along and joined in the fun, taking a trip on the lake in a dinghy.
The event was a huge success and over 500 taster sails were enjoyed. Some people took to the lake for a trip in a Wayfarer dinghy or the club's Quest training boats. There were also river trips on offer in a cruising yacht and a rib safety boat..
The river was also busy with club racing and many visitors made the most of the day, watching the day whilst picnicking by the the river
The day was also promoting the RYA 'Try Sailing in May' campaign.
