Tankoa 50-metre Elettra's construction is progressing on schedule for delivery to her European owner in May 2019.

Based on a similar design to Vertige, the first in 50-metre series, she differs from her predecessor in three key aspects:

  • Project Elettra is a true hybrid yacht.
  • She will have five cabins with a main deck owner's suite and four guest cabins on the lower deck.
  • Her foredeck has been equipped with a touch-and-go helipad.
About Tankoa's elettra hybrid system

She is powered by twin MTU 8V4000M54 (895 kW) and two electric motors (300 kW) driven by two variable speed variable speed generators (250 kW).

In DEM mode (Diesel Electric mode) the electric motors are fed by the two variable-speed generators, allowing for a speed of 10.5 knots and a range of 4,900 nm.

This mode provides reduced fuel consumption and very low noise levels.

In Hybrid Mode, one of the two main engines drives its shaft electric motor to generate electrical power to run the second electric motor for propulsion and hotel loads. At 12 knots, the yacht will have a cruising range of approx. 4,000 nm. In this mode, the two diesel generators are simply turned off during navigation.

In Traditional Mode, the yacht can sail at 17 knots using both main diesel engines for propulsion and a diesel generator for onboard services to feed the hotel loads. In this case, the variable speed generators self-adjust their rpm to the required load.

In Full-Speed Mode, with both main engines and generators supplying power to the two electric motors and feeding the hotel loads, the yacht will reach a top speed in excess of 18 knots.

About her interiors

Her interior design is by Francesco Paszkowski Design in collaboration with Margherita Casprini and will call for light yet modern tones and a predominance of natural materials.

She will be a five-cabin configuration.

Elettra's lower deck will be equipped with a gym and beach club, three VIP cabins with king-size beds and two guest cabins with twin berths, plus crew quarters and service areas.

On the main deck, the cockpit comes with a spacious sunbed, U-shaped sofa, coffee tables and bar. On the same deck level, the interior comprises a spacious salon, galley, dining room and oversized master suite with office and day lounge equipped with fold-down balconies on both sides.

The upper deck was designed around spacious outdoor areas for guest's relaxation, with a dining table and access to the comfortable sky lounge. The foredeck includes a solarium and open-air lounge, all designed to offer maximum privacy.

Comfort also reigns on the fly deck relaxation areas with sofas, sun-beds, up & down tables, bar and a large Jacuzzi.

Tankoa building two more 50-metre - 165' hulls for delivery in 2020

It is no secret that the yard has started production of hull #3 and #4 of the 50-metre series. Construction work on hull #3 is already well advanced at Tankoa's other metalwork facility in La Spezia. Both 50-metre projects are sister-ships to S501 Vertige.

These two new, sub-500GT superyachts will replicate the dynamic yet graceful exterior styling of their predecessors and are based on the same naval architectural platform to provide unprecedented speed-consumption ratios.

The general arrangement is also similar with fold-down terraces in the owner's suite on the main deck forward, a side-loading tender garage aft, and a generous transom beach club.

However, prospective clients will still be able to tailor both the interiors and exterior layout to suit their own preferences, subject to contracts being signed 14 months before final delivery date.

Hull #3 will be powered with conventional diesel propulsion, whereas #4 will come with a hybrid propulsion package. Like her sister-ship (hull #2 in the series), she will have four flexible propulsion modes: diesel-electric, full hybrid, traditional diesel and full-speed mode.

Hull #3 will be moved to the outfitting shed at our state-of-the-art completion facility in Genoa in late December this year, where finishing works will start early January for a scheduled delivery in May 2020. Hull #4 will be delivered in November 2020.

Both yachts have been started on spec using Tankoa's own capital, Indeed, the company's financial stability is another factor that clients appreciate and take into consideration.

There is no doubt the yard will very soon be able to confirm that these two 50-metre projects have been sold to final clients.

New custom division – starting soon

The success of the family line designed by Paszkoswki, along with the acclaimed 50-metre series and the international exposure following the presentation of Vertige at MYS and FLIBS in 2017, have attracted new interest in Tankoa in the past few months. Over the past year, we have been asked by owners, brokers and designers to respond to bid packages for several one-off, full-custom projects in the 55- to 100-metre range.

With more and more experienced clients arriving with their own one-off designs, Tankoa has decided to create a dedicated full-custom business unit.

The opening of the La Spezia facility will support this growth, but the brand is restructuring to ensure that the full-custom team can respond to clients' needs in the same one-to-one manner that has characterised the company to date and proven a key element in its success. In fact, Tankoa will voluntarily limit orders of full-custom projects to one a year in order to guarantee the best service and prompt delivery.

With a range of projects from 57 to 90 meters on the drawing boards by designers from Italy and Holland, Tankoa expects to announce its first contract for a full-custom, one-off yacht in the near future.
