Most marine steering wheels designs come and go, but one has withstood the test of time: the Schmitt & Ongaro Marine Destroyer Wheel. With classic good looks and robust stainless steel construction, it's available in seven sizes, from 279mm to 762mm.
The Destroyer Wheel is manufactured for low maintenance. Its rim, five or six spokes, and hub are highly polished stainless steel and impervious to harsh conditions. The standard black center cap can be substituted with an available chrome-plated version. Ideal for OEM or aftermarket, a 19mm tapered shaft makes it easy to use with almost any steering setup.
With a wide array of sizes and dishes to choose from, the Destroyer Wheel is applicable to almost any vessel. It's ideal for runabouts, skiffs, center consoles, RIBs and other small boats, as well as on the flybridge or main helm of large sportfish or cruising yachts.
The 279mm dia. Destroyer Wheel is available with a 10º dish and 9.5mm spokes or 12mm spokes with a control knob. The 393mm model has 9.5mm spokes and a 10º or 22º dish; the 431mm, 9.5mm spokes and a 22º dish, and the 457mm, 508mm, 558mm and 609mm diameters, 9.5mm spokes and a 10º dish. The 711mm and 762 models have 12mm spokes and 10º dishes.
Equally rugged and good-looking, the five-spoke Destroyer Wheel is also offered with a durable polyurethane rim. Available in 355mm and 406mm diameters, it has a 22º dish and 19mm tapered shaft.
