Australia's premium luxury motor yacht builder Riviera premiered the supremely stylish and seaworthy 54 Enclosed Flybridge at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (May 23-26).
The new release reflects the aspirations of Riviera owners to extend their cruising time aboard in complete comfort and safety, offering the hallmark indoor/outdoor lifestyle features, practicality of design, and legendary offshore capabilities for which Riviera is globally renowned.
Replacing Riviera's 52 to partner the successful 57 Enclosed Flybridge model, the 54 continues the proud heritage of the renowned Riviera flybridge design over the past four decades, which has seen the launching of more than 3,500 yachts.
The mid-50ft mark has long been a popular size for Riviera, and the 54 is no exception indeed its design takes the enclosed flybridge concept to another level.
"Taking centre stage in the 54 is a presidential-style full-beam master suite with an enormous amount of space and storage, king-sized bed, large hanging wardrobe and finely appointed en-suite bathroom forward on the port side," said Riviera's owner Mr Rodney Longhurst.
"Being located amidships, this stateroom enjoys maximum stability and quietness, while the unimpeded views from generous topside windows are straight from the Discovery channel."
"Enclosed" means just that, the 54's handsome saloon deck being topped by a solid, three-sided haven that shields occupants from the elements.
Premium-quality Strataglass clears aft transform the flybridge into a relaxed indoor-outdoor entertaining setting. Sliding side windows and a large windscreen provide excellent visibility.
Blended into the dash is an array of advanced technologies, including the Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit navigation system and Riviera's intuitive C-Zone digital switching.
With the bridge safely accessed by an internal staircase, guests can relax on an L-shaped lounge that wraps around a large table, serviced by a wet bar with solid surface bench top, refrigerator, drink-holders, sink with hot and cold tapware and storage.
On the main deck level, the spacious cockpit offers fixed transom seating, with options for storage or a live bait tank, as well as a three-seater mezzanine lounge to port, upholstered in high-quality outdoor fabric. On the starboard side of the mezzanine, a double barbecue unit is neatly concealed and protected under a moulded lid with gas strut. The unit includes LED lighting, a solid surface bench top and sink, icemaker and generous storage.
The rear bulkhead of the 54 Enclosed Flybridge includes a sliding door and awning window comprising tinted, tempered glass framed in polished stainless steel.
A highly functional U-shaped galley is located aft in the saloon, convenient to the rear-facing cockpit dinette it is also centrally located to pass catering to the flybridge via the adjacent floating staircase. Just perfect for the boating gourmet chef, the galley features a solid surface bench top, two-burner electric cooktop, convection microwave oven and an optional drawer dishwasher within handy reach of the stainless-steel sink.
Basking in natural light, the forward area of the saloon is devoted to relaxation and entertainment, offering a spacious C-shaped lounge to port with a hi-lo dining table. Adjacent to the dining area is a plush three-seater settee, its central module able to slide out as an ottoman and form additional seating around the main table. An additional table then lifts out from the settee and sits between the two remaining seats, forming a casual workspace.
Stepping below to the accommodation deck, the 54 is impressively conceived and wonderfully luxurious. Along with the aforementioned full-beam master suite, there is an elegantly appointed forward VIP stateroom and a starboard twin Pullman-berth cabin. Storage abounds throughout this deck.
The premium finish of the master stateroom extends throughout the accommodation deck. The guest bathroom with its designer appointments, offers two-way entry enabling it to serve as the day head.
The Riviera 54 Enclosed Flybridge exudes an aura of escapism, its destiny being the coastal waters of the worlds finest cruising grounds. This is evident in the high freeboard, perceptibly proud stance of the bow, the flowing lines of the flybridge, and the stately manner in which the hull strides across chop.
Fuel capacity totals (3,500 litres/925 US gal) and the central fuel tank is located amidships to ensure the hull remains perfectly balanced, while Volvo Penta's well-founded D11-IPS 950 system with twin D11 turbo diesel engines (533kW/725hp) and IPS 20 pod-drives deliver impressive fuel economy, high performance and quiet operation, not to mention easy joystick docking and impeccable driving manners.
Upon arrival at an anchorage, the 54 will be equally quick to switch to entertainment mode.
"Everyone will love the indoor/outdoor luxury lifestyle features, ease of operation and entertaining capabilities," Mr Longhurst adds. "With a large open cockpit, barbecue centre, covered mezzanine seating, aft galley and a welcoming saloon, there's just so much to like.
"You also get the legendary offshore capabilities for which Riviera is internationally renowned, coupled with advanced technologies like C-Zone digital switching and Volvo Penta's Glass Cockpit navigation that make handling a real delight."
With Riviera, all Volvo Penta systems, engines, drives and electronics are covered by an industry-leading limited five-year warranty to complement Riviera's limited five-year structural warranty.
