Hylas Yachts introduces first powerboat to U.S. market

by Alice Paniccia 6 Sep 2019 02:49 PDT

Leading builder of world-class sailboats, Hylas Yachts introduced the M44 power yacht to U.S. boaters at the 2018 Palm Beach International Boat Show earlier this year. Constructed by Queen Long Marine in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the Hylas M44 continues a 40-year heritage of fine boat building.

A 65-year tradition of fine boat building in New Zealand has proven this particular design in both recreational and commercial markets. The Salthouse down-easter style has been tested extensively by family cruising as well as applications ranging from customs and police patrols to commercial and deep-sea game fishing. Salthouse joined forces with Hylas to fine tune quality and brand the M44 internationally. His reputation for strength and integrity blend perfectly with Hylas Yacht's luxury touches and systems expertise.

Designed for today's lifestyle

From the luxurious interior to the spacious cockpit, the Hylas M44 is designed for today's lifestyle. An unassuming bow flare compliments the fine forward entry and easy-planing hull. Built to travel big oceans or explore serene lakes, the M44 slices through chop for a dry steady ride. Twin Yanmar 8-cylinder 370 HP diesels amidship o?er a top speed of nearly 30 knots while the 3 ft keel protects the running gear and enhances tracking.

The simple yet elegant interior layout is perfect for that day getaway or extended cruise. Large front and side windows, aft door and opening windows enhance airflow, lighting and scenic views. An al fresco dinner in the cockpit and the inside dinette both are served easily from the spacious aft galley between them.

The fully functional love-seat helm console is compact and houses a 14" multifunction display and dual engine displays as well as all other necessary electronics. Accommodations include a master stateroom forward, guest to port and two additional sleeping locations thanks to the convertible dining tables. Standard features include underwater exhaust, chain counter, teak cockpit sole, teak wood interior, refrigerator drawers, Raymarine electronics package and Sealand head system.

Tankage includes 240 gallons fuel, 195 gallons water and a 15-gallon hot water heater. Worth noting also are the bait well in the swim platform, tie down loops on the roof for paddle boards, singlehanded operation, cameras to monitor anchor deployment/retrieval and engine room. Options include a 6 kw generator, bow/stern thrusters, Cruisair AC and more.

The new Hylas Power Yachts include owner's customization choices to reflect personal taste and style.
