The Australian Weta Class has added three State events to its calendar for the 2019-20 season ahead of the first National Championships in 2020-2021.

The class has standardised on the "Square Top" 9.3 SqM sail for racing this season, increasing the sail area to 20.5 SqM in total, but has still allowed the original "Pin-Head" 8.3SqM to be used.

  • The Queensland State Titles will take place on 30th November to 1st November at Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club near Noosa.
  • New South Wales Weta State Titles take place from 28-31 December at Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club on Lake Macquarie.
  • The Victorian State Championships will take place at McCrae Yacht Club on Port Phillip Bay as part of the Australia Day Regatta from 25th-26th Jan.

These events are expected to attract Weta sailors from growing fleets around Brisbane and Bundaberg in Queensland. From the NSW fleets around Sydney, Lake Illawarra and on the Clarence River at Yamba. Together with the fleet at Frankston YC in Port Phillip Bay and the Gippland Lakes in Victoria. There's also more Wetas racing at Adelaide and in Tasmania.
