The President of the World Powerboating Federation (UIM) Dr. Raffaele Chiulli and the Rector of the University of Messina, Prof. Salvatore Cuzzocrea, have signed a historic collaboration agreement.
The UIM, which had already accredited the Nautical and Industrial Design Laboratories of the Engineering Department of the University of Messina as a "UIM certified Test Laboratory", will develop together with the University of Messina synergies in areas of common interest such as workshops, technical and scientific conferences, joint teaching programs, research activities and projects, publications and technology transfer, programs and activities for researchers and PhD students and for students and graduates through dissertations and internships.
"I am particularly satisfied - said UIM President Raffaele Chiulli - that our International Federation, which is among the oldest sports institutions in the world, with a century of history, recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the world governing body of Powerboating and member of ARISF (the Association of all international sports federations recognized by the IOC) and of GAISF (the Association of all Olympic and non-Olympic Sports Federations) which I am honored to preside, has signed this collaboration agreement with the University of Messina.
"In this regard," continues Chiulli, "concrete synergies between the two Institutions are already in place, not least the verification tests on the safety cell, carried out by the Nautical and Industrial Design laboratories of the Engineering Department, coordinated by Prof. Ing. Eugenio Guglielmino and Ing. Filippo Cucinotta, on the "Tommy One" racing boat on which, the pilots Schepici and Montavoci will attempt the world record in the waters between Messina and Vulcano. The Rector Prof. Salvatore Cuzzocrea wished to emphasize the significance of this collaboration by providing concrete operational answers and the world record test in the waters of Messina is a clear example."
