Achieving a very high level of customisation with easy-to-use Audio-Visual, Domotics, Entertainment, IT and Lighting and Comfort systems: these are the guidelines Videoworks followed when designing the on-board systems for the new 50-metre Columbus Sport 50 M/Y K2, one of this season's most eagerly awaited yachts, joining the almost 700 projects developed over more than 20 years of activity.
- Videoworks has designed a complex onboard system for the Italian shipyard's new 50-metre vessel, ranging from audio/visual systems to domotics and video surveillance controls.
- The system's architecture is based on four centralised main racks arranged on three decks
Domotics and audio/video systems are now among the most popular requests made by owners and guests. Must-haves of system integration now include being able to watch a soccer match on a large screen with very high resolution, listen to music with loudspeakers faithfully reproducing pure sounds, plan having a party, effortlessly control lighting, blinds, multi-media contents and air conditioning and enjoy a safe, reliable internet connection.
Centralised racks for more space on board
Videoworks installed four centralised main racks, arranged on three decks. The aim of this very specific choice was to avoid the need for local elements, freeing up more room onboard: the TV, loudspeakers, AUX HDMI sockets, control mini iPads and recharging docks are the only local elements.
Videoworks also designed and installed AV, IT, and CCTV systems featuring ultra-high-tech solutions. Samsung televisions were supplied, except in the main salon, where the owner specifically requested a 65'' Bang & Olufsen Beovision Harmony TV integrated into the Videoworks system, free-standing between the main salon and the dining area.
The presence of a Seatel 100TVHD TVRO (Television Receive-Only) antenna capable of receiving both Ku- and Ka-band means HD channels will be available when sailing in the Mediterranean and in American waters. Owners and their guests can enjoy perfect sound in every room thanks to Sonance speakers in all indoor areas and to James Loudspeakers on the outside decks.
Both owner and crew have access to a wide range of on-demand audio/video content on a 16TB NAS server.
Not just comfort, but safety on board
Thanks to its considerable experience and long-term partnership with Lutron, a world leader in the production of light control systems, Videoworks also supplies on-board domotics systems permitting intelligent control of lighting and blinds, to make time on board even more comfortable and enjoyable.
There is also a VoIP telephone system and a CCTV surveillance system from Panasonic, the world leader in on-board security, including six cameras and a network recorder for recording video streams and storing them in encrypted format. In addition, a Kerio appliance with firewall, router, anti-virus, user authentication, web and application filtering, reporting and internet traffic monitoring functions is also provided on board to guarantee total security.
To enable external connections, two VSAT Sailor 900 High Power antennas were installed, ensuring satellite signal reception with the yacht at any angle and featuring eight 5G-ready antennas.
A 5G dual SIM modem is provided for the owner, along with a 4G dual modem for guests and crew.
Staff Calls are received via a dedicated iPad in the crew mess, ensuring prompt service in response to the requests of the owner and guests.
