As NSW winds down its restrictions having achieved an 80% total vaccination target, other states are striving to catch up before making any border openings. A timely reminder for boaters in NSW has been issued by NSW Maritime.

NSW Maritime appreciates that many boaters and community members have questions about the public health orders and how they relate to water-based activities. On 11 October 2021, Covid restrictions in NSW changed as the state surpasses the 70% state-wide vaccination rate and introduces the new Public Health Order (Public Health (Covid General) Order 2021). Now, there are only two types of areas throughout NSW: A general area and nominated "stay at home" areas that may become necessary from time to time. As at 12.00am on 11 October, all areas of NSW will be in the general area category with no "stay at home" areas nominated. However, this may change, so we advise you to stay aware of how your LGA or area is defined going forward.

Let's hope all the states open up as soon as possible. In the meantime, new shows and seminars are being planned including the Marinas22 International Conference & Trade Exhibition which is fast approaching. With much of the exhibition now sold, we know everyone is eager to connect face-to-face and celebrate our industry wins, learn about new products, and discuss how we can all take advantage on this new 'open' world, we will soon find ourselves in. Check out this short video to see what they have planned.

Not all states have had a total lockdown and in Queensland, Superyacht Australia hosted its second 'Endless Summer Party' at the Coral Sea Marina Resort in the Whitsundays last Thursday. With a colourful tropical theme, guests arrived dressed in sunglasses, loud shirts, swimwear and leis ready to relax and enjoy meeting others in the industry. Held in the Lookout Lounge, an upstairs venue at the marina, the sweeping views out across the yachts and the bay beyond added to the party's ambience. The event was very successful with over 140 party goers in attendance including crew from 17 superyachts and representatives from sponsors and organisers. Guests dined on delicious freshly cooked sliders and the drinks were more than plentiful. Live music and a DJ complemented the evening with some crews hitting the dance floor later in the evening.

And further positive signs of what's to come are summarised in this recent move by Melbourne Marine Centre. A decision to move to bigger and brighter premises is paying off with demand for product almost three times higher than in their last location. When Andrew Stephen and Robert Cuming opened the Melbourne Marine Centre dealership in January 2015, it was in a 650sqm space in Dandenong South. Just five years later, Melbourne Marine has now moved into a bigger, purpose-built facility - 5kms down the road. The showroom alone is the size of their entire previous facility.

New boats this week include the new Maritimo S60. Maritimo has unveiled its sixth new model in 2021, with the exciting global reveal of the all new S60 Sedan Motor Yacht, slated for its official global launch in mid-2022, and will join the S51, S55, and S70 as the latest addition to the highly acclaimed Maritimo S-Series lineage. Maritimo's immense new model development strategy continues up the model lineage in catering for the current global demand for larger vessels, says Maritimo Design Director, Tom Barry-Cotter. "The response to our new models from our customers this year has been astounding and we expect the new S60 to see that momentum continue," he said.

A new clothing brand was released in Australia this week. Sail Racing have been making premium technical clothing since 1977 and is now available in Australia, distributed in Sydney from the team behind Burke Marine and Henri-Lloyd. Sail Racing have partnered with brand test members Tom Slingsby and Kyle Langford to create superior performance clothing for the Australian and New Zealand environment. As technical clothing partners to some of the world's most successful high-performance racing teams, feedback from these sailors has been a key part of the brands performance edge, as Sail Racing's Rob Crawford explains.

"We are proud to have the opportunity to bring Sail Racing to Australia and New Zealand, it is an exciting brand with its core reputation for quality and performance. We have seen interest grow strongly in the brand over the past few months, driven by our partnerships with Emirates Team New Zealand and multiple SailGP teams. Looking ahead we are working with Sail Racing international on developing some exciting new products with our local test members, and are looking forward to releasing these into the Australian and New Zealand market over the next twelve months."

From South East Asia, Sunseeker International and its official distributor in Hong Kong, NextWave, are delighted to reveal the brand new 4,500 sq ft Sunseeker Showcase in the ultra-exclusive Repulse Bay, Southern District of Hong Kong. The brand-new flagship venue features a private specification room complete with an immersive installation. In real time, clients can walk through their chosen Sunseeker model with a 360-degree tour of the interior space, enabling prospective buyers to visualise their preferred layout. Meanwhile, an interior design fabric and finishes display provides an opportunity to see and touch the collection of luxury materials curated by Sunseeker, altogether offering clients a fully interactive brand experience.
