Privacy and silence
Reassuringly easy to handle and maintain, Zeelander Yachts has consciously created the Zeelander 5 with owner operators in mind. No crew are necessary. "Take the helm and enjoy a rare moment of privacy with your loved ones," said founder Sietse Koopmans. For heightened privacy and security, the whole wheelhouse is equipped with privacy glass. At the touch of a button, the glass turns opaque.
The Zeelander yard has the best name in the business when it comes to sound and vibration proofing. "We are obsessed with noise and vibration control," commented Koopmans. Running at full throttle, the boat makes an easy 45 knots, but all you will hear is the sound of the wake astern. Riding at anchor, the generator and aircon produce just 46dB - literally whisper quiet. While at full speed, the noise level is only 70dB - like water running down a gentle creek.
However, when owners and guests want it, the Zeelander 5 can make some noise. With 12 speakers and two subwoofers by Bowers & Wilkins on board, the yacht delivers serious power to any playlist and is ideal for parties.
Completely customizable finish
Like her big sister the Z72, the Zeelander 5 is even more voluptuous than her predecessors are. Zeelander's DNA is all there, but with curvier lines and a sportier S-shaped sheerline. In-house styling and the combined experience of the entire Zeelander team make the new Zeelander 5 a work of art. "We call it an evolution of timeless design," said Koopmans.
The choice is integral to the philosophy at Zeelander. Four carefully curated mood boards offer a range of luxurious styles and finishes to match an owner's personality.
The Nautical is inspired by sailing traditions. This interior instils a carefree, coastal lifestyle. Its trademarks are blue and white accents with dark woods and brown leather details. The Modern interior style is reminiscent of a New York City loft with an industrial past. A concrete colour scheme highlighted by orange details makes this interior stand out. Then there's the Classical - think elegant, warm, and refined. These words define the pleasant atmosphere of the classical interior. Mocha-coloured furniture, Corian marble details, and light leather trims create a sophisticated décor. Bright, airy, and fresh - the Contemporary interior is the perfect juxtaposition between simple and sophisticated. Lavish macassar wood features and supple leather flooring form an eye-catching look.
They make expert use of the finest fabrics, leathers, and woods for a truly noble finish. However, some owners want to go even further, and that is where Zeelander bespoke can help.
Smart solutions
The main saloon benefits from a large wraparound window offering 360-degree views. "Due to their scale and complexity, only one specialist manufacturer in the world can make our frameless double-curved windshields," commented Koopmans. The wheelhouse's smart, chic design is as alluring as its breathtaking views. A light, airy ambiance and exacting attention to detail instantly make you feel at home. A drop-down TV is perfectly positioned to serve the wheelhouse seating area or can be rotated 180° to face the aft deck. There is a raised sitting area around the table, which can be transformed into an extra bed by lowering the dining table.
The Zeelander 5 can be opened up for the summer months with a sunroof and retractable sliding window aft (all operated electrically), or sealed off for cool winter cruises.
The guest area on the lower deck consists of two cabins. The master cabin is placed amidships and is the most generous in size. It is big enough to host a large separate bathroom, featuring elegant Corian marble, macassar wood paneling, and superyacht portholes. In the master suite, there are a vanity table and a queen size bed with a TV above. Another guest cabin is either double or twin - as the owner prefers.
Hallmark exterior
Timeless, stainless-steel hardware on the deck of the Zeelander 5 complements the yacht's natural elegance. Every stainless element made by hand from the finest grade 316Ti metal for everlasting beauty. Oval-shaped railings, solid end-caps, and seamlessly integrated cleats are just some examples of this commitment to perfection.
Zeelander's hallmark curved tumblehome stern is home to a 63.5 square foot swim platform, which is almost 6 square meters - large enough to host a couple of large sunbeds. Side-boarding doors and a pasarelle allow easy entry on board. The pasarelle can also act as a swim ladder providing easy access to the water for swimmers.
Another nice outside area of the Zeelander 5 is in the bow. With an optional awning and expansive sunpad, the foredeck is the perfect place for suntanning or watching sunsets at anchor.
Power and range
The Zeelander 5 power options include twin or triple Volvo Penta IPS 500 or 650 pods, for a maximum of 1,440hp. It makes for a blistering ride, certainly, but Volvo's Assisted Docking technology also makes light of close-quarters manoeuvring. The maximum speed is 45 knots but the boat can also travel long distances on one tank - the Zeelander Z5 max range will be 1,333nm at 6 knots.
The first Zeelander 5 is expected to hit the water in mid-2022. The Zeelander 5 is produced in low volume and limited yearly production quantities. Visit zeelander.com/zeelander5 for more information.
