MarineMax Fort Myers Yacht Consultant, Charles Helgeson, introduces clients to their new dream yacht. After years of searching, they found a brand that fits their lifestyle.

The Aquila 70 Luxury Power Catamaran offers clients presently researching the power catamaran category a unique option for an upgrade. At 27 feet wide and 70 feet long, the volume of the 70 often requires consideration.

In terms of living space the Aquila 70 Luxury Power Catamaran has equivalent living space volume of a +100 foot monohull. The added space translates to larger cabins, ability to install full-size appliances, increased air conditioning capacity, luxe depth furniture and more. To achieve amenities this client is accustomed to in their home as well as providing the living volume required, the Aquila 70 Luxury Power Catamaran was an obvious choice. Speed, efficiency, range and handling are hallmarks of Aquila power catamarans and none more so than the Aquila 70 Luxury Power Catamaran.

Once you leave the dock, the stability of the ride immediately becomes present, but most shocking is how quiet the boat is while under way. During initial sea trials, we were pleasantly surprised to see 65 gallons per hour in the 22/23 knot range. The factory fully enclosed flybridge, SkyLounge option, turned out beautiful with several enhancements to the fit and finish (hull #1 was an open bridge).

Highlights for the semi-custom build of 70 #2 include upgraded SkyLounge interior finish, custom flybridge barstools in stainless steel, enhanced layout configuration of BBQ and entertainment areas on the flybridge, actuated sliding door access to the salon from the aft cockpit, actuated hatch for interior stairs to SkyLounge, and tastefully executed remote controlled electronic Hunter Douglas blinds along with several additional subtle custom requests.

Our client conducted extensive research in the large cat segment (for years) and landed on Aquila for several reasons, but what sealed the decision was the factory's willingness and ability to accommodate changes that made the boat unique. Alain Raas, Aquila's Brand Manager, facilitated all communication with the Aquila factory, who had a genuine interest in taking feedback geared towards improving the product. Without reinventing the boat, several of our changes are now standard on subsequent hulls. Hull #4 is also under contract/construction and will be identical to hull #2. Many of the improvements incorporated into hull #2 are now standard on later models. The future owners of hulls 3 and 4 are looking forward to taking delivery and are appreciative of the improvements.
