Having completed a move from waters near Brampton to Hunts SC in St Ives, the planning for our first open meeting has been occupying the newly formed committee for a while this year.

Invitations were sent out to all relevant Eastern District clubs, billing our event as a practice for 2023; 32 responses were received from a mix of ED clubs and friends.

The day started well with most competitors arriving early to grab a coffee and cake from our galley, PRO Andy Johnson set the scene for the day with a short briefing detailing how the day would be run.

Due to the size of the fleet, a heat management board was deployed and the two fleets were managed expertly by Dave Green and Andy Harrold.

Racing started at 10.30 until 12.45, where a 30 min lunch break was enjoyed in the sunshine by all, and more cake! A couple of the marks were tweaked to allow for the slight shift in wind, and a slightly shorter course was set.

The wind seemed to be a perfect strength for A Rigs with some nice shifts up near the windward mark, which caught a few out in most races.

The racing was two heats per race, we managed to get 7 races (14heats) completed by our 3.30pm finish time.

Prizes were presented by Phil Holiday - MYA Chair, (who even won a prize) and thanked everyone for their contribution to a great day.
