Our team from New York will be attending the Annapolis boat show which starts today. Our hope was to bring our electric test boat and exhibit the first US installation of a WaterWorld 10kw direct drive motor. But of course, being the first has its challenges and some paper work delays prevented us from having the motor delivered in time. Never-the-less we will be walking the docks to speak with suppliers and of course potential customers.
As winter re-fit season begins its important to reach out to Nova Luxe early to get your equipment ordered so our work can be completed before the start of next season (Holiday gift for spouse?). For sailboats with a 25hp motor or less we should be able to complete an electric re-fit for under $25k. Our last client just sailed off in her Ranger 28 with an electric yacht motor and two Dakota 48v batteries for under $15k.
Not only do we have the best American products to get the job done. We did some shopping while at the Cannes Yachting festival and will be stocking the best equipment Europe has to offer. Pallets of Waterworld and RimDrive motors are crossing the Atlantic and we are excited to get this equipment into boats like yours! Of course, we will thoroughly test the units before recommending to our customers but all indications show these products are excellent!
Equipment upgrades are always exciting but sometimes I find a boat that is so well done that even I must admit, 'I couldn't have built it better myself.' This happened with the purpose-built Ocean Renegade R5, a performance sailboat with electric motors. We then became a dealer for OR. The second time I felt this was when I saw the Faro 5.
The Faro 5 has an elegant wood topside that harkens back to the 1920's. This was the golden era of wooden lake boats and many are still in use throughout the Northeast, particularly the Thousand Islands, Lake George, Lake Winnipesaukee and Lake Champlain areas. While its look is classic, its not trying to copy an old design but rather it's a completely new design and efficient hull with a classic look. It's a bit smaller than the classic wooden muscle boats and a hell of a lot quieter! This boat screams fun with a maximum power of 30kw it has a top speed of 22 knots and can operate at half that speed for 8 hours. I can think of no better boat that I would want at the end of my dock to zip around the lake for a few hours.
Yesterday we became an official distributor of Faro Boats. We can deliver the Portuguese boat by Spring of next year. We encourage you to take a look as we believe this is a perfect pairing of electric power and elegant design.
Hope to see you in Annapolis!
