The Biden administration issued a press release announcing the Federal Register Notice (FRN) on the proposed modifications to the Section 301 tariffs on imports from China and limited exclusion process for certain machinery - which the administration disclosed this month.

The comment period opened on May 29 and will close on June 28 - the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) intends to submit comments.

As NOAA's vessel speed rule is considered by the Office of Management and Budget, the recreational boating industry continues to advocate for the withdrawal of the rule in favor of the advanced marine technologies available today. The rule, which would require small recreational boats to travel at speeds of 10 knots along much of the Atlantic coast for up to seven months of the year, is ill-conceived, dangerous to boaters, economically disastrous, and ineffective at achieving its goal of protecting the North Atlantic right whale.

Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-AR) and the American Sportfishing Association's VP of Government Affairs, Mike Leonard, touch on a few of the most pressing topics facing the sport today, including youth participation, proposed bans on traditional tackle, and the $148 billion economic contribution sportfishing provides for communities across the country.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2024 NMMA Hall of Fame Award. NMMA Hall of Fame inductees are industry icons — visionaries whose outstanding contributions have and continue to advance, guide, and transform the industry. To nominate a worthy marine leader, one must be an active member in good standing with the NMMA.

Colorado State University's Tropical Weather and Climate researchers, long known for their annual hurricane forecasts, are calling for the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season to be "extremely active". Above-average warm waters in the eastern and central Atlantic - fuel for a hurricane - as well as expected La Niña conditions later this summer/fall, which decrease vertical wind shear, contribute to the potential for increased storm formation this season.

BRP Inc (TSX:DOO; NASDAQ:DOOO) today reported its financial results for the three-month period ended April 30. The complete financial results are available on SEDAR+ and EDGAR as well as in the section Quarterly Reports of BRP's website.

Suntex Marina Investors LLC, the largest standalone recreational marina owner in the U.S. by marina count and boat slips, announced today that it has completed the process of joining forces with Almar Marinas through the acquisition of four marinas located in Oakland that had been pending.

Zhik CEO Mat Belcher said, "We have seen unprecedented growth globally over the last few years, and I am confident that Johannes, Josh and Tristan are best placed to support our dealers and distributors across the regions, as we continue to push this trajectory."
