The prestigious America's Cup, set to begin in less than three months, will take place in the vibrant city of Barcelona. The America's Cup is the oldest international sailing competition, where teams from around the world compete in high-performance sailing boats.

Magonis is thrilled to announce its participation in the America's Cup with two Wave e-550 boats, which will be used as support vessels.

The 37th America's Cup: A Commitment to Decarbonization

This season, the America's Cup is placing significant focus on decarbonization. A key initiative is the construction of six electric boats by four shipyards for use during the event. Supported by the Barcelona Nautical Capital Foundation, this project aims to highlight Catalonia's technological advancements and drive the decarbonization of the nautical sector.

The foundation aims to extend the decarbonization and electrification initiative to the entire maritime industry, beginning with yachts. Catalonia has a head start in this process, as it is already a leader in decarbonization and recharging systems for the automotive sector. To leverage this, the plan seeks to explore how technologies from the automotive field can be adapted for use in the marine industry.

Magonis: Proud Participant in the America's Cup

Magonis, a pioneering company in pure electric boats, will be building two Wave e-550 vessels for the prestigious America's Cup. Magonis' smart boats, featuring a unique powertrain, are 100% electric and fully connected to ensure smooth navigation. Their first model is highly efficient, creating immediate torque and capable of reaching speeds up to 22 knots.

Magonis showcases their innovations at their showroom in Barcelona. Located in Marina Vela, next to the famous W Hotel in Barceloneta, you can meet the team and learn more about the Wave e-550. Events and demo days will be organized during the America's Cup, so stay tuned for exciting upcoming events!

A distinct injustice?
When is a RIB not RIB, nor dayboat, nor adventure craft? When it is an ADV from Highfield... You know, you would have to think so… Yes, they are dayboats. They're also adventure craft, which is why Highfield calls them the ADV7 and ADV9. Problem is, Highfield themselves call them RIBs, and as best as I can tell, they're actually not. Posted on 9 Jun
