Just three years ago Steven Rhoades, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and former real estate agent with an admitted "boating affliction" became the owner of his first TowBoatUS location on Grand Lake. He followed up in 2022 opening TowBoatUS Fort Gibson Lake. Today, TowBoatUS Tenkiller Ferry Lake is his newest on-water towing port, growing his small company's footprint among eastern Oklahoma's prime boating lakes.

While Rhoades' company is part of a nationwide TowBoatUS network of more than 300 ports and more than 600 red response vessels, this is the first 24/7 on-water towing service on Tenkiller Ferry Lake. "Professional boat towing services weren't well known here," said Rhoades, "However, the boating community has been very welcoming to me.

"Boaters and anglers tell me about the difficulty of having someone get them after an on-water breakdown. Local first responders share their desire to focus on the real emergencies. Marinas want professional on-water assistance for their customers. I can help with each of these situations. I've been a boater for a long time myself and know the unexpected can happen.

"When I share with TenKiller Ferry Lake boaters they can use an app to initiate a request for on-water assistance, and assure them they'll get a confirmation callback right away from a real person, the response I get is overwhelmingly positive," he adds.

Much like an auto club for recreational boat owners, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers annual on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for freshwater boaters and anglers for just $109 per year, and offers on-water towing, soft ungrounding, battery jump and fuel drop-off services 24/7. Members receive more than 25 BoatUS benefits including discounts at local fuel docks and transient slips at marinas. Also offered is a subscription to BoatUS Magazine, free DSC-VHF radio registration and more.

The fastest way to request assistance from TowBoatUS Tenkiller Ferry Lake is to download the free BoatUS App, which connects boaters to the closest local towing captain. Additionally, the company can be reached at 918-782-8600, or by phoning the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at 800-391-4869.
