The 2024 EUROSAF 69F Youth European Championship went to an end at Acquafresca Sports Center on the Lake Garda. After five days of extremely technical regattas, as they were mainly conditioned by light winds, Jajo Dutchsail Woman was crowned as new European Youth champion of the 69F Class.
"I think that the key factor was to have fun: we went here with a brand new team and not so much training, just some minimum preparation. We had some changing at the helm and, at the end, we had a great week by building our strengths, making it simple and keeping the boat flying. We had a lot of laughs, at home and in the water. We are super happy: this is part of our preparations towards the Women America's Cup and we are grateful to have sailed in different conditions, from displacement to foil passing for the super technical marginal foiling. It was really great" said Willemijn Offerman, skipper of Jajo Dutchsail Woman.
Overall podium was completed by Jajo Dutchsail Youth led by Paul Hameeteman, that ended just 5 points away from the winner, and Zachary Blomely's Oceana Vivo.
Along the prize-giving ceremony, the British entry Oceana Vivo was crowned as overall winner of the Youth Foiling Gold Cup where, following it in the ranking, were the Germans of BYC Foiling Team and the French of Groupe Atlantic.
"We had a lot of races along the whole season and two great events dedicated to the youths: for Oceana Vivo coming away with the overall success in this category is an unexpected achievement and we are proud of this. I want just saying thanks for the great support to the whole team, to the sponsors and partners, to my family and to all the people that made this possible: has been amazing! Thanks also to the 69F Class, organizer of such competitive races held in some incredible spot with several teams" was the comment of Oceana Vivo skipper Zachary Blomely.
Now that the EUROSAF 69F Youth European Championship 2024 has a winner, the 69F Class turn the attention towards the Grand Prix 3 of the 69F Cup, expected in just a week always in Acquafresca, on the Venetian coasts of the Lake Garda.
