Summer Regatta 2024 at Snettisham Beach Sailing Club - Preview

The picturesque coastal venue of Snettisham Beach Sailing Club located on the North Norfolk coastline is holding their popular Summer Regatta over the August Bank Holiday weekend 24-26 Aug 2024.

Snettisham Beach SC is a tidal venue offering a superb sailing location. Race starts on day 1 at 9am, Day 2 9.30am and Day 3 10.00am

There will be six races planned over the three days, with three fleets for each race.

Fleet 1 is for single-handed monohulls Portsmouth Yardstick (PY) 964 to 1213, Fleet 2 is for mixed monohulls two or three sails, Fast Fleet is for any boat PY < 965. Dependant on the number of boats in individual classes they will have their own fleet.

The clubhouse has the most amazing view overlooking the Wash, with spectacular sunsets. Camping is allowed for tents and small camper vans, unfortunately no caravans allowed. Saturday evening the clubhouse will be providing food at £10 per person accompanied by a well stocked bar. There are plenty of options for eating out in the local area for Friday and Sunday evening.

Entry for visitors are Double-handed boats £30 and Single-handers £15.

Reduced wind compared to earlier in the week for the final day The final day of Norfolk Week saw reduced wind compared to earlier in the week, with winds around 8-10 knots, dying off in the second race to almost nothing, leading to tows required to all boats coming back into the creek. Wins mean courses are a majority of reaches with very small upwind legs Day 5 of Norfolk Week saw the two fleets of National 12s and Allcomers sail in the morning and afternoon respectively at Ouse Amateur SC.
