The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) recently released the results of a study that examined the effectiveness of its standards in enhancing boating safety.

The analysis was conducted by the research firms Industrial Economics and ITA International, which used NMMA Certified boats for the analysis to ensure compliance with ABYC standards through their rigorous inspection process.

Over the past few years, recreational fishing and boating participants have been dropping out of these activities at an alarming rate. This trend, called churn, is detrimental to the entire fishing and boating industry, contributing to decreases in sales and revenue and, ultimately, lower funding to support fisheries conservation and clean waterways. To help combat this troublesome trend, RBFF initiated a comprehensive, multi-phase research project to better understand why anglers and boaters lose interest and how we might stop them from leaving.

Boat Show updates: Newport International Boat Show has announced a full slate of activities for visitors to enjoy. Tickets are now on sale for this year's Newport International Boat Show presented by BankNewport and the Show will be held September 12-15, 2024, at the Newport Yachting Center Marina in downtown Newport, Rhode Island.

The fifteenth annual Progressive® Metro Boat Show, the largest in-water boat show in the Midwest spanning a mile long footprint, is coming to Lake St. Clair Metropark September 12-15 with boats up to 50 ft.+ in length on display and for sale.

Expansions: Bennington, North America's leading manufacturer of pontoon boats, has announced that following a period of strong sales and rapid growth of its award-winning dealer network in 2023, it has recently added seven new U.S. dealers and two international dealers to date in 2024.

People moves: Saxdor Yachts is pleased to announce the appointment of Keith Miller as the new Vice President of North American Sales. Based in Sarasota, Florida, he will report directly to CEO Erna Rusi and will play a pivotal role in strengthening Saxdor's market presence in the region.

IMTRA, the leading manufacturer and importer of quality solutions and products for the marine, energy and transportation markets, has announced the hiring of two new salesmen, Wright Anderson and Brexon Nichols, who have both joined the company's Outside Sales Team.

US Sailing, the sport's National Governing Body (NGB), has announced that Chief Executive Officer Alan Ostfield, who has been instrumental in driving the organization's recent transformation, will step down from his role and transition to an advisory position for the Association.
