Castagnola Shipyards announces the completion of the 'MY/Angra' refit. The 38-metre motor yacht, built entirely with WEST SYSTEM® Epoxy, exemplifies the shipyard's expertise in wooden yacht construction.
Established in 1974 by Giovanni Castagnola in Lavagna, Castagnola Yacht has become a distinguished name in the creation of custom-made wooden boats. This esteemed legacy is now upheld by the nephew, Gabriele Maestri, who incorporates a modern twist into enhanced traditional techniques.
"We truly appreciate our longstanding partnership between Castagnola Yacht and our exclusive distributor in Italy, WS Marine." Says Sam Oliver, Operations Director, Wessex Resins. "WEST SYSTEM Epoxy is well-regarded in the marine industry for its ability to enhance strength and durability."
The flagship vessel demonstrates exceptional construction through its triple-planked design, with the addition of fibreglass to enhance its resistance and waterproofing capabilities. Fully loaded, the yacht achieves a displacement of 180 tonnes.
The yacht's interior and exterior, designed by Andrea Borzelli, Sara Berta, and Giovanni Castagnola, exude opulence. Powered by advanced waterjet propulsion, MY/Angra demonstrates high performance. It maintains a cruising speed of 28 knots and reaches a maximum speed of 31 knots, navigating the water with ease. The carefully engineered hull, by Giovanni Castagnola and Francesco Rogantin's team (Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering), guarantees optimum dependability.
Massimo Benincasa, representing WSMarine, the Italian distributor for WEST SYSTEM Epoxy, expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration. He stated, "WS Marine and Castagnola Yacht have enjoyed a successful partnership for many years. Their expertise, professionalism, and use of high-quality products like WEST SYSTEM have resulted in top-quality boats. MY/Angra is a demonstration of this successful partnership, and we look forward to many more projects together."
