Royal Harwich Yacht Club hosted a round of the local Beastie event last Saturday. On the lead up to the event we found that we had two main fleets, 18 Teras and 33 Optimists. With this in mind the club decided to lay on a second committee boat giving both fleets separate courses on the river.

On arrival visitors were greeted with blue skies, sunshine, very lights winds and a terrific view over the river Orwell.

Race officers went on the water straight after the briefing and were soon greeted with 6 to 10knts of wind from the East. For racing on the river that was perfect for us to lay Trapezoid courses, with a start line where they would need to approach against the tide. Because of this we were able to get four races off without any hitches or General Recalls.

For the Oppies, Stella Davey had won it by the end of race three with three wins. Callum Marshall second and Oscar Coates third.

For the Tera Pros, William Osborn finished first, Ferguson Anderson second and Harry Calver third. For the Tera Sport, George Panos finished first, Annabel Hooton second and Monty Mawditt third.

All of the race courses were out of the channel on the opposite shore and visible to all the parents on the lawn.

We are very grateful to all the visitors that made the effort to come to Royal Harwich and hope to greet them again for the event next year (date to still be decided).
