Doggersbank 90 Offshore and 105 Offshore: Building on an explorer legacy

Introducing the all-new Doggersbank 90 Offshore and 105 Offshore. Following hot on the heels of the newly launched Doggersbank 60 Offshore, these two new models designed by Vripack bring even more space and comfort to the legendary proven platform. They evoke the history and substance of the Doggersbank legacy, with improved style and capability.

Officially launched at the Cannes Yachting Festival in partnership with our European partner Northrop & Johnson, both models enjoy a significant increase in space and guest features. These include optimised guest cabins and enlarged crew accommodation for the 90 Offshore. The 105 Offshore — the flagship in the range to date — enjoys an additional ensuite guest cabin bringing the total to four, including a full-beam owner's suite, and a third crew cabin bringing the total to three. Both models can also be fitted with hybrid propulsion and have larger battery banks for extended silent night operations.

"We saw a need to launch larger models that can better accommodate modern day technologies and give more usable space to guests and crew," says Joost Mertens, Doggersbank sales director. "Patrick Coote of Northrop & Johnson, with whom we enjoy a long-term and collaborative relationship, saw a niche in the market for capable, custom and well-designed explorers underpinned by naval architectural expertise, and pushed us to build upon our existing designs and develop a model that serves that need."

Many of the upgrades came about following feedback from Doggersbank owners who cherish the chance to take a total of eight guests on adventurous journeys at sea. The extra crew cabin on the 105 Offshore will, says Mertens, allow for improved service levels, bringing the total number of crew to five, including the captain.

For more than six decades, the Doggersbank platform has retained the comfort, layout and characteristic look of the brand's heritage steel hulled models. Now, the latest Offshore — models — the 60, 90 and 105 — have a more muscular look and feel, explorer-focused details and numerous system efficiencies aimed at a younger audience.

Design changes include a sharpening up of the aft fashion plates and soft classic corners that now finish with a "bite". An inclined bow with more flare and exterior angles give the designs a knuckle edge with an adventurous vibe. And modern black window mullions with a sun screen frame and a bank of large glazing replace the classic smaller windows to ensure a larger view from the central helm position and a sense of space on the water.

"The rejuvenated exterior brings modern design changes that include bigger windows in the wheelhouse, owner's suite and crew portholes, as well as 'beefed up' exterior aesthetics," says Mertens. "The new Offshore series builds on the Doggersbank reputation for safety, comfort and experience, and reframes it for a younger and outdoor oriented owner."

Other key features for both models include an eight-person jacuzzi forward on the upper deck, with a large crane and tender aft. "The grandeur of the deck has stepped up, with more functional details than found on our traditional models," says Mertens. "The inclusion of loose storage boxes instead of fixed storage under the seating also gives owners the flexibility to carry more equipment and toys."

Alongside top of the range stabilisers, Dutch design by Vripack and Dutch build quality, the modern-looking trawlers optimised for family cruising are serious ocean going vessels capable of efficient transatlantic crossings.

"With the Doggersbank 90 and 105 Offshore, we're giving Doggersbank a sporty facelift while doing justice to the proven platform's characteristics," says Mertens. "The result is boats built for enhanced safety and comfort, with lots of open deck space that owners can really get behind."
