Columbus Atlantique 43 M/Y Frette: the excellence of custom design

by Columbus Yachts 3 Oct 07:50 PDT

Columbus Yachts introduces M/Y Frette, the second unit of the new Atlantique line to be launched in 2024, which includes models of 37, 43, 47, 55 and 65 meters.

Named in honor of the renowned Frette brand, known for its exceptional Italian craftsmanship, M/Y Frette is also adorned with Frette Bespoke linens, adding an extra layer of luxurious details and sophistication to the vessel. This new yacht is distinguished not only by an interior layout tailored to the owner's needs but also by the sophistication of its materials and their combinations. This excellence is embodied in fluid forms and a sophisticated aesthetic, ensuring maximum functionality and the joy of life on board.

The 43-meter steel hull is paired with an aluminum superstructure, with a maximum beam of 9.05 meters and a gross tonnage of 462 GT. The Columbus Atlantique 43m features exterior and interior designs by Hot Lab and incorporates various stylistic, design, and functional elements dedicated to maritime travel, "Architecture for voyager," fully enjoying every moment on board. The naval engineering is by the shipyard in collaboration with Hydro Tec.

The external lines resemble a shell, almost like a carefully sculpted stone: no sharp edges, no sudden changes in inclination. Just one single form, soft yet aggressive, a nearly natural synthesis between a motor yacht and a classic sailing hull. The fluidity of the sailing references gives this motor yacht a natural elegance.

M/Y Frette is designed around the owner's requests, characterized by large external areas that seamlessly blend with the abundant interior spaces, ensuring constant contact with the surrounding landscape.

The "sailing" stern of the Atlantique 43m is perhaps its most distinctive area, featuring an impressive central pool. The area is very close to the water, thanks to the choice of "digging" into the stern area, just 50cm from the sea, and adding two foldable side wings, creating the sensation of direct contact with the water. In this model, the choice was made for freestanding furniture, such as ivory Flexform sofas and loungers, instead of structural furniture, to give the spaces a different fluidity.

Entering the salon, one immediately senses a contemporary style with rounded shapes like the ivory-colored linen sofas and armchairs by Paolo Castelli, with contrasting cushions in shades of blue. The woods are warm, like the brushed and bleached American walnut parquet laid in a herringbone pattern, creating contrast with the oak wood panels, with a smooth or 3D finish, on the back wall designed to house the large TV screen with an onyx and ivory marble frame.

This area is completed by a natural oak wood bench by Fendi with a fabric seat and leather straps, along with a freestanding bar unit by Poltrona Frau in cream with walnut canaletto finishes. On the walls, two black-and-white photographs of the Tokyo and Manhattan bridges are framed by sycamore-effect wallpaper. The floor lamp is white Flos Superloon.

Moving forward, there is the owner's office with a large walk-in closet and a karaoke room with a private bathroom. The oak parquet with a Tatami stone finish contrasts with the walnut canaletto furniture and wall finishes, characterizing both the office area and the karaoke room. Two yellow Fendi Casa armchairs, a custom three-seater sofa with a coffee table, a wall unit with a Calacatta violet marble back equipped with an 85-inch screen, and a custom bar unit with a marble top create the ideal atmosphere for moments spent in the karaoke area. The guest bathroom in this area is particularly noteworthy, made of Calacatta white marble and includes a huge sauna.

The galley is located on the port side, where the access to the below-deck crew area is also positioned.

The upper deck layout is designed to offer maximum conviviality on board. The aft external area features a large semicircular structural sofa paired with a Flexform sofa. The elm coffee tables are by Paola Lenti, while those by Flexform are made of iroko wood. Moving forward through a large opening glass door, you reach the indoor dining area with a custom panda marble table and Fendi Casa chairs that can accommodate up to 12 people.

The lounge area includes two Giorgetti Caddy armchairs paired with two Fendi Casa coffee tables. The area is completed by two large floor-to-ceiling side windows that fully open for a more fluid external connection. Moving forward, we find the helm station and the Captain's cabin.

The lounge space at the bow is significantly emphasized, featuring a spectacular rectangular panoramic pool surrounded by white sunbeds, a lounge area with Paola Lenti elm coffee tables, and a bar with natural teak stools. The sun deck, designed with a hardtop, is intended for informal breakfasts and includes a large barbecue, a rectangular table for 14 people with a teak top and Flexform chairs, a bar with stools, and a large sunbathing area.

The lower deck houses 5 double cabins, 2 VIP and 3 twin, all with private bathrooms featuring Calacatta white marble. The cabin parquet is brushed and bleached American walnut laid in a herringbone pattern, combined with melange fabric walls and white lacquered wood ceilings to give a sense of lightness and harmony to the sleeping area.

The forward area of the lower deck is dedicated to the crew, with three double cabins, all with bathrooms, the crew mess, and the laundry area.

The 5.5m tender is housed aft with a garage on the starboard side. At the bow of the main deck, there is an area to accommodate the second tender (rescue boat) and two jet skis.

Powered by 2 Cat C32 Acert engines of 970kW each, Columbus Atlantique 43 can reach a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14.5 knots.
