The 'Crazy Kiwi', Conrad Colman, is currently competing in his second Vendee Globe, this time aboard MS Amlin. A staunch advocate for sustainability, Conrad is once again undertaking the challenge without the use of fossil fuels, reinforcing his commitment to an environmentally conscious approach to ocean racing.

In his first Vendee Globe in 2016, Conrad's race was disrupted in dramatic fashion when he dismasted on day 96, just three days from the finish line in Les Sables-d'Olonne. Undeterred, he completed the race under jury rig in 110 days, becoming the first Kiwi to finish the prestigious event.

Conrad's self-described campaign —"always a day late and a dollar short"— captures his relentless drive to push the boundaries of what is possible. His unwavering commitment to sustainable sailing has earned him widespread respect and admiration. In addition to his achievements on the water, Conrad's engaging personality and authentic storytelling have garnered a large and loyal following across his social media channels, where he shares his experiences and insights from the Southern Ocean.

Conrad will be presenting from the Southern Ocean at the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Ocean Sustainability Forum to be hosted by Ocean Crusaders and the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia on December 11th. He joins a list of inspirational speakers who will highlight the benefits of being more sustainable every day. This essential networking event is a first for sailing in Australia and is setting a new standard for others to follow, however is not just solely focussed on sailing. Speakers will be from a broad corporate background giving you ideas on how you can take your first, or next step on your sustainable pathway.

The following day the Ocean Crusaders team will be hosting a clean up at 'The Beach - Planespotting' which is notorious for collecting debris coming out of the Cooks River and Botany Bay. The day is sponsored by Doyle Sails who have committed to removing 4 tonnes of debris from oceans around the world in 2024. Join them to make a real impact. RSHYRCleanUp.eventbrite.com.au.
