The Sailing Federation of Hong Kong, China in conjunction with co-organiser the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and the International 29er Association, are pleased to announce the 9th edition of Hong Kong's premier international regatta for dinghies and invited classes to take place from Tuesday 11 February to Sunday 16 February 2025.

Returning to Hong Kong's renowned world class racetracks, the 2025 event will incorporate the 3rd annual 2025 29er Asian Championship.

Invited classes of 29er, 2.4mR, ILCA 4, 6 & 7, Optimist, RS Tera, RS Feva, along with development classes of Optimist and Fusion Green Fleets will be hosted in 2025. As a significant event on the Asian youth dinghy scene, the event continues to be a major foundation regatta for promising Asian sailors to hone their skills.

Off the back of the interest generated in the sport post the Paris Olympic Games, Regatta Chair

Peter Davies anticipates continued growth of the event. 270+ of the top youth sailors from around the Asia Pacific region and further afield are expected to participate in 2025.

Davies said regattas like Hong Kong Race Week contribute greatly to the development of sailing in the region. Adding that the rise of Asian countries in qualifying and enjoying medal success at the 2024 Olympics comes in part, as a result of this.

"We are looking forward to welcoming back young sailors at all stages of racing, from the developmental Green Fleets all the way to Olympic classes like the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7, together with the 29er Asian Championship" Davies said.

Racing will take place on the waters of Repulse Bay, Deep Water Bay, Stanley, Tai Tam and Beaufort Island - race tracks of the 2017 Optimist Asian and Oceania Championship, 2018 29er World Championship and the 2023 & 2024 29er Asian Championship.

We look forward to welcoming sailors to join this coveted major regatta on the Asian youth sailing circuit, with returning participants from Australia, China, Great Britain, Guam, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, UAE and the USA in 2025.

Entry is now open!

The 2025 event will incorporate:

  • 2025 29er Asian Championship
  • Racing on four dedicated racecourses
  • Junior Development Invited Classes - Green Fleet Fusion | Optimist
