Take a few minutes out of your day to admire the smooth style and sophisticated look created by Carla Guilhem Design for the second Edge 65.
These newly released renderings for the outdoor areas and interior perfectly capture the charm and charisma of this award-winning weekender while taking the sleek and colourful onboard vibe to new heights.
All the assets of the first Edge 65 remain very much in place on this second model, construction of which is now under way at the Van der Valk yard. The combination of luxury cruising, high speeds, optimum comfort and a shallow draft make for a sporty motoryacht that is ideal for families or groups of friends. The first Edge 65 is a familiar sight around the Bahamas, developed as the ultimate weekender for repeat clients who previously commissioned the 90-foot LeVen and 34-metre all-custom Lady Lene.
The new model primarily shares the same successful layout while offering a fresh configuration for the main salon and, as Carla Guilhem explains, an all-new interior that will appeal to a wide audience. "The inspiration for my design came from the times I have spent on the first Edge 65. Even at the high speeds of which this boat is capable, the trips were amazingly stable and relaxing with no slamming. She rides the waves like a comfortable Bentley and the design reflects this with a masculine, car-like aesthetic.
"Clean lines and shapes and very light spaces are blended with grey and black tones to provide an easy-on-the-eye sense of harmony. The Edge 65 is a seriously cool yacht that offers a fabulously fast drive and my new design aims to encapsulate the onboard experience".
While the first Edge 65 had a dedicated bar area, the arrangement of this second model has a family-friendly feel with a more conventional salon arrangement. Fully opening doors aft of the main deck interior structure add to the relaxation options, opening up to a fold-out platform covering 48 square metres of deck. As the images illustrate so well, from the delightful outdoor dining to the ultra-comfy cabins and bathrooms, this yacht is equally pleasurable on day trips and overnight cruises."
Read more here about what you can expect to enjoy as owners of the second Edge 65 in terms of propulsion, facilities and leisure, including interviews with key players involved such as exterior designer Cor D. Rover, Studio Delta Naval Architects and Petestep Hull Design. They explore how four Mercury V12 Verados offer a blistering top speed of 40 knots, the whisper-quiet ambience onboard and the way this cabana on the water allows you to be as close to the water as possible on a 20-metre boat.
The hull construction is progressing well and even though this reduces the lead time for delivery, you still have lots of choices in terms of technical spaces and equipment. While the owners of the first EDGE 65 requested an Aston Martin Racing Green hull colour, fast decision-makers can still opt for the exterior livery of your choice.
