As every year just before Valentine's Day, Finn lovers have just met in Cannes for the Cannes International Week, one of the most attractive and popular regattas of the season.

"The absent are always wrong," the custom says, and it was verified once again. Exceptional weather, breeze between 3 and 17 knots from the East sector overall, eight races contested, and a tough fight between the British and the Swiss in the image of a last day "champagne sailing" as recalled by the president of the Yacht Club de Cannes Jean-François Cutugno, former high-level champion, brilliant racer whatever the medium, whether in solo or maxi dinghy, and first Frenchman in the general ranking.

The regatta was friendly, as during this arrival with champagne aperitif after the raid around the Lérins Islands, or the crews dinner in the club lounges, renovated in 2024.

"The Finns are a bit of the YCC DNA, and it's not for nothing that it's the regatta in France where there are the most competitors from eleven nations" likes to remind the president, just before the awards ceremony.

"I think everyone had a great time. The race committee, the jury and the many volunteers were as usual up to the event, and I'm delighted."

Sixth in the Open European Championships despite a disqualification on BFD last year here in Cannes, the Swiss Christoph Burger brilliantly won by a small point against the Englishman Lawrence Crispin, a former high-level Finn, in the world top 15 in the late 80s, and who dominated all the week. The Swiss Simon Bovay finished on the podium, but tied on points with Crispin.

Note the 26th place of Bernard Claudel and the 30th of Laurent Hill, both members of the YCC.
