The new season got off to a superb start on 2nd March. The 174 hectare reservoir is full to the brim and the day kicked off with coffee and cake followed by two races in brilliant sunshine and a light southerly breeze.
The pursuit race ended with a tight finish at the windward end of the course with Will Willett in a Phantom ahead when the finish gun sounded followed by Bill and Myles Jackson in a RS400 and Mark Williams in a Solo in third.
The handicap was won by the Jackson's, who had a very good day, followed by Mark in the Solo and Nigel Tinkler in a RS Vareo. Special mention to our junior racer Bertie Deacon who raced his Topper in what was a tricky breeze.
After a cold and miserable February the first day of the season was a real tonic and it was good to catch up with friends.
Racing continues every Sunday and the very popular Wednesday evening races start on 2nd April.
