Glorious sunshine and challenging breezy conditions greeted the competitors for the second open meeting of the Craftinsure Travellers Series on Saturday 5 April 2025.

The first race began with the fleet heading left hoping for a lift off the island. Those that ventured right headed for the shore. In typical fashion at various points both looked the right way, however it was the right side that gave Stuart and Nick the advantage to take the lead. John Billington / Ellie Wealdon rounded second ahead of Sam Bailey / Kamila Czartolomna. On the second lap John/Ellie managed to infringe Sam/Kamila, complete a 360 turn and then capsize!! This allowed Stuart and Nick to establish a good lead and enable Chris and Nic White to slip through into second together with Ed Bradburn and Holly Evans in third.

In the second race Stuart and Nick led from the start helped with Ed/Holly having to return as they were over at the start. Despite this, Ed and Holly managed to secure a second place ahead of Chris and Nic. Ollie Goodhead / Katie Keith took fourth after a good initial first lap.

The final race began with John and Ellie taking the lead. Mid race dramatics meant that Ed and Holly took an early swim after trying to go to windward of Sam/Kamila. As the race progressed John and Ellie were being hunted down by Chris and Nic until shortly before the finish when despite some place changing Chris and Nic took line honours. Second was John and Ellie, followed by Ed and Holly making a good recovery.

Thanks go to South Staffs SC for hosting the event and Craftinsure for their sponsorship.

Overall Results:

1st Stuart and Nick Hydon (Shustoke and Dittisham SC)
2nd Chris and Nic White (South Staffs SC)
3rd Ed Bradburn and Holly Evans (South Staffs SC)
4th Sam Bailey and Kamila Czartolomna (South staffs SC)
5th Jihn Billington and Ellie Weeldon (South Staffs SC)
