The world's most daring wingfoilers are heading for the heights - literally - as the Ensis ENGEDINWING 2025 WingFoil Racing World Cup Switzerland descends on lake Silvaplana from June 10-14.

Nestling in the Swiss Alps, Lake Silvaplana offers both breathtaking scenery and a notoriously unpredictable wind pattern that will test even the most seasoned racers.

Following a thrilling opening round in Morocco and a dramatic European Championship in Turkey, the stage is now set for another explosive chapter in the WingFoil Racing saga—a format that features cutting-edge equipment and high-intensity competition.

Ghio vs Manowiecki: rivalry reignited?

In the men's division, France's Mathis Ghio enters Silvaplana as both the World Cup Round 1 winner and the newly crowned European Champion. However his path to gold will be anything but easy. In the opener, Poland's Kamil Manowiecki pushed him to the edge, rekindling a fierce rivalry. Joining them on the podium in both events was Italy's Francesco Cappuzzo, who proved he's consistently in the mix for medals.

With those three favourites locking horns again, the question is: can anyone break their stranglehold on the top spots?

One to watch is Julien Rattotti of France, who showed flashes of brilliance in Morocco and could shake up the established order. Then there's the rising star Ernesto De Amicis of Italy who finished top of the under-19 group at the Europeans and stunned the field by briefly leading the senior fleet and finishing a remarkable fourth overall. His performance suggests that the next generation is already knocking loudly on the door.

Spanu versus the Field: who can catch the queen?

In the women's field, Maddalena Spanu (ITA) is the clear favourite after storming to victory in both Round 1 and the European Championship. The Italian has been almost untouchable so far this season, but her rivals are closing in.

Chief among them is Emilia Kosti of Greece, who had to settle for silver at the Europeans but is hungry for revenge. Poland's Karolina Kluszczynska, fresh off her European bronze, adds further depth to the field, while Spain's Iset Segura -who narrowly missed the podium in Round 1- is still looking for a breakthrough performance.

Unpredictable conditions, unpredictable results?

What makes lake Silvaplana such a unique battleground is its high-altitude setting, where weather can shift by the minute. Local thermals, mountain winds, and sudden squalls make reading the conditions a race in itself - something that levels the playing field and opens the door for surprises.

As the World Cup Series heats up, all eyes will be on the alpine waters of Silvaplana. Will it be a breeze for the established stars or will new names blow their season off course?

The ENGADINWING has evolved from the renowned ENGADINWIND windsurfing event, a long-standing tradition that has graced the waters of Lake Silvaplana for over 20 years each August.

By bringing this cutting-edge competition to June, the Engadin region reaffirms its deep commitment to fostering and promoting watersports, providing an unparalleled stage for innovation and excellence.

The event is bolstered by the support of freestyle icon Balz Müller from Biel, one of wingfoiling's true pioneers, whose relentless drive to push boundaries continues to shape the sport with groundbreaking maneuvers.

The excitement kicks off on 10 June with thrilling Long Distance races, followed by a week of intense short-track showdowns. The action reaches its grand finale on Saturday, 14 June, with the highly anticipated medal series, where champions will be crowned.

Fans can follow every moment of the Ensis ENGEDINWING 2025 WingFoil Racing World Cup Switzerland in real-time, as races will be tracked live, with updates and insights shared across all official IWSA channels.
