History was made at the Superyacht Cup Palma today when the 24m Wally yacht Rose became the first ever three-time winner of the iconic event, remarkably completing the achievement over three successive years on the Bay of Palma.

Heading into the final day of racing — the St. Regis Race Day — at the 29th edition of the Superyacht Cup Palma, three yachts were tied at the top of the overall scoreboard, with Cervo, Gelliceaux and Rose each on four points and with all to play for in magnificent sailing conditions once again off Mallorca.

In the five yacht Class A it was a straightforward contest between the 39m Tripp design Cervo and the Farr designed 35m Southern Wind yacht Gelliceaux — the victor today would win the class and possibly the overall title. In the event Gelliceaux won the deciding duel with her rival by just over a minute on corrected time.

Attention then switched to Class B and Rose. Here the defending SYC title holder was racing against the Y Yacht Sveam and a quartet of Baltic 68 Café Racers: Ganesha, Open Season, Pink Gin Verde and Scorpione Hormar. While Open Season took three race wins on her way to class victory, neither she nor the other Café Racers were eligible for the overall SYC title as they are not categorised as superyachts.

Once the spray had settled Gelliceaux and Rose both had three second places and six points — with Rose taking her historic third title by virtue of racing in a class with a larger number of yachts.

Rose's exhilarated captain Ben Potter said: "What a phenomenal event and what a great day we had sailing today — and we came out on top and the boys are extremely excited. We're really thrilled we got the top result for the third year in a row.

"To make history at the Superyacht Cup Palma is wonderful. The boat went well, the crew fought hard, and we are absolutely elevated. Having the Café Racers with us gave us more competition this time — we felt we were racing hard."

And he added: "It's been fantastic, champagne sailing conditions all week with flat sea and great winds. And the organisation is great. All the communication is clear and easy for us to read and take on board, the safety aspect is fantastic, and we just love this event. It's one of the events we want to be in and every boat should want to be part of the Superyacht Cup Palma."

In ideal racing conditions with 10-16 knots of breeze, race organisers set a downwind start at the beginning of the 23nm course which stretched the SYC fleet across both sides of the Bay of Palma.

Class A again witnessed an impressive performance from Linnea Aurora, with the Hoek Truly Classic 128 taking her second race win, though out of the overall running due to technical issues and a DNS on the opening day. She did, however, finish the regatta with gentle bragging rights over her equally magnificent Hoek Truly Classic sisterships Vijonara and Atalante.

"We have again seen some spectacular racing in terrific conditions from a wide range of fantastic yachts," said Event Director Kate Branagh. "We are indebted to all the owners, captains and crews who have taken part, and to our partners and supporters, not least our new Venue Partner Club de Mar-Mallorca, and Preferred Hotel Partner St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca who sponsored today's concluding race."

Held in the SYC Regatta Village the celebratory Superyacht Cup Palma Prize Giving was supported by RSB Rigging Solutions, a long-standing SYC partner which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

"It has been a pleasure to have been a partner of the Superyacht Cup Palma for so many years, and a real privilege to be able to deliver such an historic prize-giving — it's one to remember," said RSB Managing Director Steve Branagh.

The Superyacht Cup Palma will return next year for its landmark 30th edition from June 24 to 27, 2026.
