To mark the brand's 50th anniversary, not to mention its 50th appearance at the Genoa Boat Show, the shipyard has doubled the size of its stand this year and is exhibiting in-water a remarkable eight models from the Libeccio range, including two world premieres and several boats never before presented at a show.
The 64th Genoa Boat Show will be an opportunity for Cantiere Mimì to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The company, now led by Domenico Senese, his brother Massimo and his children Rosaria and Simone, was founded in Naples by Salvatore Senese in 1975, but it was two generations previously that Domenico, known as 'Mimì', launched his business building and hiring out small fibreglass boats. Over the past 50 years, the shipyard has transformed a small family business into a leading name in artisanal Italian boatbuilding, producing over 100 boats a year, with steady turnover growth and more than 3,000 units sold.
In recent years, the shipyard has embarked on a drive for internationalisation. After consolidating its presence in the main Mediterranean markets, it has expanded its sales network in Asia and Northern Europe and entered the market in Oceania, with the signing of an agreement with Australian dealer Boatology, with which it will be attending the upcoming Sydney Boat Show in November. In collaboration with designer Valerio Rivellini, the yard has created the Libeccio range of planing gozzo boats measuring from five metres up to 13.5-metre cabin cruiser versions. It has also started production of models with hybrid propulsion, such as the Libeccio 9.5 cabin, which can cruise for several hours on electric power.
At the Genoa Boat Show, which Mimì is attending for the 50th time, there will be two world premieres on Pier P: the first is the new version of the Libeccio 9.50 Walkaround, with a stern redesigned to be more open, recalling the styling of the 11 Wa.
Appearing for the first time at a boat show, the new version of the Libeccio 13.5 Cabin is the range flagship and features unprecedented liveability thanks to a layout with three cabins (two doubles and a twin), two bathrooms with two entrances each, and a galley. Compared to the previous version, both the interior and exterior layouts have been redesigned. The two Yanmar engines - 370 or 440 hp each - drive the boat to a top speed of 30 knots.
Also on show will be six more models from 7 to 11 metres, some making their first appearance at a boat show, underscoring the breadth of the range of modern gozzo boats designed by Valerio Rivellini: Libeccio 7 Classic, 7.5 wa, 8.5 wa, 8.5 Cabin, 9.5 Cabin and, finally, 11 Wa.
