Maritimo has appointed Boat Sales Tasmania as Maritimo consultants in Tasmania, headed up by Matthew and Alex Johnston.
Based at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania in Sandy Bay, Hobart, Boat Sales Tasmania was established in 1988 and has a long history of serving the Tasmanian boating community, representing Jeanneau power and sail boats and Grand Inflatable Boats.
Matthew and Alex Johnston acquired Boat Sales Tasmania in May 2025, bringing considerable marine industry experience to the business.
Matthew's background spans marine operations, sales, international marketing and executive leadership roles, including Managing Director of Muir Windlasses Australia and Executive General Manager, Marine at TasPorts.
An MBA graduate, Past Commodore of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and accomplished offshore sailor, Matthew's deep industry knowledge and lifelong passion for boating provide a strong foundation for Boat Sales Tasmania's appointment as Maritimo's Tasmanian sales consultant.
Bill Barry-Cotter, Maritimo founder, welcomed the appointment and recalled his long association with Muir winches and its founder, John Muir.
"Both companies share the ethos of precision and pride in Australian-made quality and innovation," he said. "Over the years, I have come to know Matthew and Alex and respect their commitment to these values and their passion for boating."
Danny Jordin, Maritimo's Australasian Sales Manager said they are excited to bring Boat Sales Tasmania on board and looking forward to supporting them in promoting Maritimo to their customers.
"Matthew and Alex have built on a very good business over the past 18 months and they have a great location. Tassie is renowned for its amazing boating, and we believe there are many opportunities for Maritimo."
Matthew added, "Maritimo is the ideal fit for Tasmania, where we have a rugged, often treacherous coastline.

With 31,000 registered boat owners, Tasmania may be small in size, but it is mighty in terms of its cruising grounds and appeal to visiting boaties.
"Tasmanian owners are experienced and they know what they want," Matthew said.
"Then we have the many boat owners from around Australia who base their boats here for a season or longer to explore the fascinating coastline and waterways of our state."
Boat Sales Tasmania occupies a highly visible position on the marina at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and has already installed Maritimo digital displays and branding.
"We are really excited to add value to the relationship and already have an Open Day planned for November," Matthew added.
"We will be attending the 2027 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, and we're looking forward to Maritimo's new models and innovations in the pipeline."
