Marine navigation company savvy navvy has announced a new partnership with Dockwa, a marina reservation app and boater relationship platform. The partnership will benefit boaters on both platforms, with additional marina, mooring and yacht club data being shared across the savvy navvy user base and by providing Dockwa boaters with smarter routing options.

The collaboration will bring savvy navvy to hundreds of thousands of boaters who use Dockwa, further opening up savvy navvy's distribution channel in the United States. Over the past year, savvy navvy has seen a notable spike in growth from the United States boating market.

What is Dockwa?

Part of The Wanderlust Group family of brands, Dockwa is a free boater app that makes it easy to find marinas, book reservations, pay for supplies, and plan your entire trip in one digital place. Used by hundreds of thousands of boaters, Dockwa enables users to view amenities, photos and reviews right from their phone, tablet or computer. For Marinas, Dockwa also offers a full boater relationship platform to take inquiries, assign slips, process payments and communicate with their guests through 1:1 messaging and automated emails.

"It's a pleasure to collaborate with the team at savvy navvy. Their unique algorithm and on-tap marine information is a real asset to anyone who loves spending time on the water. By integrating their routing into our booking process we'll be helping our users get from one marina to another easier than ever before. Hopefully this integration will remove barriers for boaters and get even more people out on the water. Because nothing should stand in the way of getting under way." said, Jeremy Crane, VP of Product for Dockwa.

What is savvy navvy?

The savvy navvy app (backed by the founders of Kahoot) evolved out of the need to solve a common problem within the boating industry - navigation technology is outdated, cumbersome and difficult to use. In addition, research shows that sailors, on average, use up to four or more apps to plan a trip at sea and take one to two hours each day to update their calculations. For newcomers, this can be incredibly time consuming and intimidating.

With savvy navvy, the process is greatly simplified. Just like Google Maps, a sailor can plan a trip at the click of a button. Where Google Maps uses real-time traffic information, savvy navvy uses real-time weather forecasts and tidal data, in one app, on any device.

Ultimately savvy navvy makes navigation easy.

A savvy integration

With a similar mission to Dockwa, savvy navvy is all about spending more time sailing and less time planning, enabling more people to enjoy getting out on the water safely.

Thanks to a partnership with Dockwa, savvy navvy has now integrated details for thousands of marinas into their easy to use boating app, giving their users unprecedented detail, at the touch of a button. In addition Dockwa will be displaying savvy data to their vast usership.

"Dockwa and savvy navvy are both aligned closely in our vision of making boating easier and more enjoyable for everyone. By integrating Dockwa marina information into our app savvy navvy users will get incredibly detailed information about marina and yacht club bookings, facilities, review, amenities and more. This enables users to confidently book overnight stays on their boat, assured that they have as much information as possible to book the best location for them." Jelte Liebrand, ex-Googler and Founder of savvy navvy.
