The Royal Cape Yacht Club and Iate Club do Rio de Janeiro are delighted to receive another entry for the 2023 Cape2Rio Race. The entry, still to be named, is a modern cruiser-racer, a Delta 465 which is to be launched in mid 2022. The owner Marcio Lima is hoping to encourage other sailors to also participate in the race.

Yacht racing in Brazil happens across the seaboard with numerous yacht clubs and facilities catering for both cruising and racing yachts. Having a big Brazilian contingent in the event is a stated objective of the Race Organisers and to date we now have three confirmed Brazilian entries, which is encouraging. Marcio Lima and his crew will be representing Clube dos Jangadeiros, located in Porto Alegre, South Brazil.

The Delta465,designed by Nestor Volker, is a unique combination of cruising comfort and racing performance, with a generous sail plan and spacious cockpit. We hope to see more of these boats on the water come 2023 and wish Marcio and his team well in their preparations.

The Cape2Rio Race 2023 will commence 2 January 2023, for more information please contact . and keep up to date with developments on cape2riorace.com and social media feeds.
