Project Sparta takes shape: Hull and superstructure of the 67m Steel FDHF are now joined

by Heesen Yachts 11 Nov 2021 00:15 PST

Heesen is delighted to confirm that the construction of YN 20067, Project Sparta, is proceeding on schedule.

During a three-day operation that saw Sparta's hull lowered into the water for the first time at the Talsma steel fabrication yard, powerful cranes were pre-positioned just along the canal from the Oss shipyard. The hull was towed to Oss for preparation, and next day relocated under the cranes to receive the two MTU 12V4000 M65R diesel engines and gearboxes. Only then could the two-part aluminium superstructure and the mast assembly be placed on the hull. The completed structure is now secure in Heesen's no. 5 shed, where outfitting and interior fit-out are set to begin. The yacht will be ready for delivery in 2023.

With the joining of her hull and superstructure, the assertive exterior form of Project Sparta can now be appreciated for the first time, characterised by a powerful bow, bold curves, dramatic window shapes and an inviting stern area, with its stepped aft deck and 6.5-metre infinity pool. Indoor and outdoor spaces connect harmoniously and create the perfect haven for family life and relaxation. By incorporating a raised pilothouse, Winch Design has conceived a new style of sporty profile which will pave the way for the next generation of Heesen yachts.

A truly substantial yacht, every corner of Project Sparta's 1,200GT interior volume is utilised, in a layout that reflects the lifestyle of the owners and their family. The full-beam saloon on the main deck is a unique feature on a vessel of this size, giving Project Sparta the feel of a pocket mega-yacht. Four double guest cabins (the forward one transforming into a full-beam suite thanks to a sliding partition) are located on the main deck. The lower deck is allocated to a well-appointed walk-in wellness area with an oval Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gymnasium, plus crew quarters and the galley. The owner has reserved the upper deck for private use, with suites facing forward and aft.

Project Sparta embodies Heesen's trusted ability to take on complex new custom designs, which are perfectly engineered and then built to the highest quality standards by the shipyard's teams of craftspeople.

"The production of full-custom yachts is a challenge that we at Heesen always undertake with great enthusiasm," comments Heesen CEO Arthur Brouwer. "Their construction embodies the personality of their owners, and offers us the opportunity to demonstrate the incredible levels of excellence our teams can achieve. Working with Winch Design is always a great pleasure, and we look forward to seeing this yacht in all her splendour two years from now."
