- The versatile and seaworthy 14.6-meter yacht will be launched in spring 2022
- The Daychaser 48 is built by Boston Boatworks exclusively for Barton & Gray Mariners Club
- The entire boat is awash with beautiful, finely crafted woods
- Max speed is 37 knots
Penned by the talent at Zurn Yacht Design in Marblehead, Massachusetts, and built by Boston Boatworks in Charlestown, Massachusetts, the boat encompasses many well-thought-out details for a perfect day on the water.
Sophisticated design
The modern high-performance 14.6-meter yacht features ample space for socializing in four separate zones. Forward bow seating sets the Daychaser 48 apart from others in her class and makes an optimal place to lounge while under way or to gather in private when moored stern to. Aft, in the bridge room, the twin helm chairs are elevated for excellent sightlines while piloting the boat, and a service bar to port helps keep guests entertained and refreshed for those lounging in the U-shaped settee to starboard.
The entire boat is awash with beautiful, finely crafted woods with a level of fit and finish that one might expect on a much larger super yacht. Seating abounds in this boat which is USCG certified to carry 12 Barton and Gray Members with a captain and steward aboard to take care of every members' whim. In the aft cockpit there is mirrored seating to port and starboard with hidden deployable boarding stairs. Further aft on center is both aft and forward-facing island benches for socializing in the aft cockpit or unwinding and drying off after a swim.
"With the Daychaser 48, we really tried to accommodate every need the client asked of ZYD," says Doug Zurn. "We think the high level of detail and forethought that went into the design will satisfy Barton & Gray's ever-expanding membership."
Zurn also points to the boat's "beach club" as a major asset. "The large swim platform will appeal to a lot of members," he says. "It makes it so easy to get in and out of the water, so if members are into water sports, or just want to cool off, they will be well accommodated."
The Daychaser 48 is equipped with two Cummins diesels, of 550 horsepower each, that allow for a top speed of 37 knots. Optional Seakeeper gyro stabilization will keep members comfortable at rest in any seaway while Zipwake's Dynamic Trim Control Systems will accomplish the same while on plane.
Exclusive partnership
The Daychaser 48 will be partnered exclusively with Barton & Gray Mariners Club, which has locations throughout the United States. The club promises "all the joys of yachting in their customers' lives without any of the hassle." Members can enjoy a day on the water eating, drinking, sunning, and relaxing, while letting captain and crew worry about tides or fuel or weather conditions.
It is a turnkey way to engage with the marine environment, and it is an easy lifestyle to fall in love with. The Daychaser 48 is the first boat specifically built with Barton & Gray in mind—indeed the project is being overseen by Barton & Gray Yachtworks to make sure it is completely tailored to the company's desires.
There is a lot to like with the Daychaser 48, especially as an entertainment platform. The boat will be launched in spring 2022 by Boston Boatworks who have built more than 340 yachts over the last 25 years and collaborated with ZYD on numerous designs.
