Wonderful sailing, sunshine, pasta and friends!

The RS Class Association are delighted that the RS200, RS400 and RS800 fleets will return to the renowned and ever-popular Circolo Vela Torbole, on Lake Garda for the RS200 & RS400 Eurocup and the RS800 European Championship 2023!

Racing will take place from Monday 29th May to Friday 2nd June. 2 races per day are scheduled.

Entry will open on the RS Class Association website at 10am on Sunday 13th November.

Garda is of course well known for being a sailing and windsurfing Mecca, largely due to the thermally generated 'Ora' wind that often kicks in from the south usually around midday and builds regularly up to a F4 and occasionally up to a F6-F7.

The social side of Garda is part of the charm of the regatta - with the Ora turning up at lunchtime, there's no need to get to the dinghy park until mid-morning, so this helps to encourage later nights. There will be evening entertainment at the club for two nights, whilst for the others most sailors will gather with friends to find a lovely Italian restaurant, then decamp to a bar to discuss the days racing.

For non-sailing friends, or those extending their trip, there's lots to do including mountain biking, windsurfing, hill climbing, canyoning, beach activities, canoeing etc. The majority of these are available within a short walk of the town centre. Sailors with friends or family interested in sharing the holiday are encouraged to bring them along - the more the merrier!

Whilst the RS200, RS400 and RS800 sailors have been eager to return to Garda, with the 2020 event having been cancelled due to Covid, we are aware that the current climate is making planning difficult for sailors and clubs. For this reason we will require a minimum of 60 boats in total and 10 per class by 31st December for the event to be confirmed. Conversations with sailors at recent events and online mean that the fleet chairs are very optimistic that this will be achieved, the main question amongst the fleets is which will reach 20 boats first!
