Gulf Stream Primer
W. Frank Bohlen, from UConn's Marine Sciences Program, has prepared two documents ahead of the Marion Bermuda Race in regards to the Gulf Stream.
First, Bohlen illustrates the varied ways that the temperature, current, and other conditions can impact race conditions, and how to examine these factors in the days and weeks leading up to the race to make the most informed navigational decisions possible. You'll notice the document refers to Newport, rather than Marion, however, it is all thoroughly applicable to Marion Bermuda.
