Sanlorenzo in Venice at the centre of yachting, culture and sustainability

Sanlorenzo confirms its participation at the fourth edition of the Venice Boat Show, an important event for the sector that this year will see sustainability as its central theme.
Scheduled from May 31 to June 4, 2023, the five-day event will also coincide with the start of the Biennale of Sustainability, in which Sanlorenzo will take part on the strength of its role as a trailblazer on the road to sustainable yachting.
In this context in which design and respect for the environment unite, the entry of Sanlorenzo as a co-founding partner in the Fondazione Venezia Capitale Mondiale della Sostenibilità / Venice Sustainability Foundation (FVCMS/VSF) will be presented on 1 June at 1.30 pm at the Venice Arsenal (Sala Squadratori). For the occasion, the shipyard will exhibit "Sanlorenzo: hydrogen, (our) road to 2030'', a pathway towards carbon neutrality which includes sharing the results of research conducted with Siemens Energy focused on the use of hydrogen from green methanol through combined reformer/fuel cell modules.
BGH, the tender that Bluegame is building to accompany American Magic, challenger to the 37th America's Cup in September 2024 in Barcelona, will also be presented at the event. A boat that represents the ultimate expression in sustainability: a 10-metre multihull, with dynamic foils, powered exclusively by hydrogen fuel cells, which will literally "fly" at 50 knots with zero emissions, releasing only water vapour. The boat will be launched by summer 2023. The 1:3 scale model of the BGH will be visible inside the stand in the area exclusively dedicated to Sanlorenzo Group.
To represent Sanlorenzo in Venice, the yard has chosen the contemporary SL78, entry-level of the iconic line that made the brand successful. Moored in the shadow of Lorenzo Quinn's famous work "Building Bridges", consisting of six pairs of hands joined to form a row of bridges on the dry docks of the arsenal, SL78 will be the ambassador of the timeless style and extensive technical know-how that has always distinguished Sanlorenzo.
Confirming the increasingly strong bond between Sanlorenzo and the city of Venice, the shipyard will present the Fondazione Sanlorenzo, whose headquarters will be inaugurated in 2024 in a historical palace a few steps away from the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute.
Fondazione Sanlorenzo is dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental conservation by supporting ideas, projects and research to enhance the smaller islands of Italy and their communities. The venue will house the site's permanent collection of contemporary art and will be a place for educational programmes, conferences, artist residencies, temporary exhibitions, shows and other cultural events. This project stems from the distinctive vision that has accompanied Sanlorenzo in its global art initiatives through partnerships with Art Basel in cities such as Basel, Paris, Miami and Hong Kong.
