Lusben completes the refit of mega yacht Oasis, which was built by Lürssen in Hamburg in 2006. The owner, who in 2021 commissioned Lusben to perform a full hull repainting, chose the Livorno-based shipyard again to extend the beach area by 3.60 metres and carry out multiple maintenance operations on the Main and Upper Decks, including the replacement of the teak to give it a more harmonious and elegant appearance.

The M/Y Oasis recently completed her refit at the Livorno shipyard. Lusben, which since 1956 has been carrying out custom refit projects of peerless quality on super, motor and sailing yachts from all over the world, took just six months to complete a structural extension of the beach area by 3.60 metres, increasing the overall length of the yacht from 59.40 to 63 metres. The owner’s stated desire was in fact to enlarge the beach area, creating a more liveable and convivial stern platform for guests to use during the summer months.

With style input from FM Architettura on all aspects of the design and decor and naval engineering by Studio Sole, with which the yard worked in tandem throughout the project, the extension of the beach area involved major structural steel work, with nesting cutting directly on the platform and the lengthening by almost 2 metres of the two "tails" at the aft end of the hull sides to give the yacht a harmonious overall appearance. The lengthening required structural steelwork, a series of refitting operations, and modifications to the hull and deck fittings. On completion of this work, and after applying filler and painting the hull and superstructure - a total of about 280 square metres - Lusben and Studio Sole performed tests on the vessel's stability. The results were all very positive, with a clear improvement in terms of both speed and fuel consumption reported during sea trials, bettering the excellent outcome of tank tests carried out in the Netherlands before starting the refit.

Other major refit work was performed on the Main and Upper Decks, where the original white corridors were repainted an elegant light grey. The inclination of the Upper Deck was also modified, without altering its overall size. The addition of extensive glazing in the central section of the deck now offers a panoramic view of the sea. The same modification was also made on the Main Deck, which now features perimeter glazing. The teak has been replaced throughout the beach area, on the Main Deck and on the steps, which have been redesigned to create an even more striking "fan" effect.

The refit involved about 40 people with different areas of expertise, who worked in perfect synergy with the Captain and crew of the M/Y Oasis to complete the project on schedule.

"The refit project recently completed on the M/Y Oasis built by Lürssen Yachts, which follows on from work on the same boat in 2021, demonstrates the confidence shown by the Captain and Owner in Lusben," said Lusben Commercial Director Gianni Paladino. The synergistic relationship established between project management, the work team, the Captain and all the crew made it possible to complete this complex project in a short timeframe and to the owner's complete satisfaction. This demonstrates yet again," he added, "that Lusben has the capabilities to tackle complex refits and major work on recreational vessels of various lengths, built by any Shipyard. Starting in 2023, the yard can now work on yachts over 100 metres in length thanks to the new floating dock in Livorno and a new support structure."
