Registration is open for the International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), North America's premier technical trade event for the recreational marine industry, taking place at the Tampa Convention Center, October 1-3.

In a refreshed layout, IBEX 2024 will have 700 exhibitors on display, of which over 100 are new exhibiting companies. The new layout includes a re-designed 3rd floor with a new location for the Tech Talk Theater, a new 3rd floor lounge, and it will also be the home of the new Start-Up Pavilion. This innovative platform will allow start-ups to unveil their newest products and technologies and is a joint production between IBEX and Yachting Ventures. In addition, the outdoor space of the Show has expanded, and the IBEX Docks will span three areas: North and South Docks at the Convention Center and additional docks at the Marriott Tampa Waterside.

Fishing is also preparing for their industry event and a special notice goes out to attendees of ICAST: Join the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) at the 2nd Annual Women's Engagement Breakfast on July 18 in the Orange County Convention Center. Hear from two inspirational women working with historically male-focused companies who are changing the narrative to make space for women in the industry. Network with your fishing industry friends and colleagues and get the latest on the Find Your Best Self campaign from Rachel Piacenza, RBFF Senior Director of Marketing & Communications. Additionally, participate in a group exercise to better help connect women to the water. Register today as last year there was a waitlist!

Continuing with that sector of the boating market, Martha Guyas, Southeast Fisheries Policy Director at the American Sportfishing Association (ASA), testified before the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries on the importance of accurate data in marine fisheries management. Too often, federal fisheries stock assessments have high levels of uncertainty due to unreliable or sparse fishery data, particularly inaccurate recreational catch and effort data. The Fisheries Data Modernization and Accuracy Act of 2024 (H.R. 8705), introduced by Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA), aims to address this issue and improve confidence in the scientific information used for fisheries management.

Despite difficult economic times, expansions are continuing. Ilmor Marine, a leader in advanced marine propulsion systems, announces a multi-million-dollar investment in a new state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing facility in Lyon Township, Michigan. This significant development underscores Ilmor's commitment to innovation and excellence in marine propulsion and system technology. The new facility, slated to open in the first quarter of 2025, will house all Ilmor Marine operations, including high-tech manufacturing, engineering, and customer support personnel. This investment represents a major milestone for Ilmor Marine, positioning the company at the forefront of industry advancements and enabling the development of cutting-edge marine propulsion systems.
